YES! FINALLY!, October 31, 2006
This review is from: Light 'Em Up (Audio CD)
I just moved away from Detroit to North Carolina, and the one thing I will miss the most is the music; the accessibility of the stores, the artists, and the venues. Musically, it is a truly fine city with plenty of history and character.
This album was supposed to be a out a long time ago (a LONG time ago). It is really a treat for the fans who have gone to the shows to hear these great songs because now they can have them to play at home. This is especially true for me, since I no longer have the ability to see shows in Detroit :*-(
For those who have yet to hear of the Fags, you're also in for a treat. Their sound reminds me the most of Cheap Trick; they write very well crafted songs, but also maintain enough of a rough edge that really keeps this from falling into the category of soulless corporate crap rock.
My favorite song has become 'Rockstar', but again, they write good songs, so enjoy every moment of it.

Good things come to those who wait......., November 9, 2006
This review is from: Light 'Em Up (Audio CD)
Yes kids, four years after the release of their debut EP, The Fags
have finally released their full-length debut, and it's well worth the
long, long wait. The Fags have crafted the perfect power pop recipe:
A cup of Cheap Trick, a teaspoon of The Replacements, a dash of Lindsay
Buckingham circa 1978, and a big ole pinch of...Def Leppard?? Yep, Def
Leppard. It all comes together on this brilliant record, where all eleven
songs will get stuck in your head and never leave. In a just world, The
Fags would become rock stars. In reality, we will have to settle for them being the greatest power pop band around.

I LOVE IT!!!, February 15, 2007
This review is from: Light 'Em Up (Audio CD)
These songwriters really know how to write a good melodic pop rock song. I guarantee after hearing any of their songs for the first time it will be stuck in your head for days to come. Think Fountains of Wayne with distorted guitars and more mature lyrics. After a long wait for this album to come out, I believe this should be in everybody's music collection.

some great music, February 13, 2007
This review is from: Light 'Em Up (Audio CD)
This was pretty interesting, after listening to most punk/alternative rock nowadays it is refreshing to hear the quality of this project. If you like music in general, you might like this one, don't let the name fool you.

Power Pop, February 12, 2007
This review is from: Light 'Em Up (Audio CD)
This music is light and pop, but is not too fluffy to where you are embarassed to listen to it. It can be categorized as "power pop." They have been compared to Cheap Trick and other bands alike. They have the feel of a band from another era that is still producing today. If you enjoy 70's then you will enjoy The Fags.

The Fags - 'Light 'Em Up' (Idol Records), December 1, 2010
This review is from: Light 'Em Up (Audio CD)
Saw this trio open for X awhile back during their 'Make The Music Go Bang' tour. Basically, just good toe-tapping power pop with plenty of drive. Tracks that make this CD worth a listen are "Tonight", the Cheap Trick-like "Siren Song", "Here's Looking At You", the radio friendly "Back Of The Line" and the title cut "Light 'Em Up". Line-up: John Liccardello - guitar & vocals, Tim Patalan - bass & vocals and JImmy Paluzzi - drums & vocals. Recommended for fans of the Replacements, Cheap Trick, Mooney Suzuki and The Go.
