This review is from: In the Light of Italy: Corot and Early Open-Air Painting (Paperback)
a selection of beautiful landscape paintings, this book illustrates the influence of the italian countryside on painters visiting from france and italy, mostly in the early 1800's. the views of the countryside around rome and some old buildings in naples are particularly fresh and vivacious. many of the paintings have an unfinished look which may bother some readers, but i find this quality to be part of their charm. the text and the reproductions are very good.
