I recently purchased Gary's WAITING TO CATCH THE LIGHT, which I love as an ambient collection. So I went looking for more of Gary's music.
Love is Alive was one of my favorite songs, and this remake is very faithful and I love the R&B flourish. The whole EP has a nice world music sort of sound. It does definitely remind me of Peter Gabriel. The music is lush and lovely, it's like going on a vacation. So reasonably priced, as well.

What a great update of one of my favorite songs; 'Love Is Alive'. Gary re-did LIA with his son Dorian whose modern day influences filter into the arrangement as a fliud rap is added in the breakdown leading up to the crescendo of a gospel-like send-off. Immediate and energetic, this new version is a real testament to the universal nature of the lyrics.
I also like 'Little One' which has a sleek Peter Gabriel world vibe and sounds awesome on my iPod! All in all, a cool digital EP with crisp production to tide fans (like me) over. Here's hoping for some new Gary Wright material soon! |
