Top Customer Reviews

By Douglas Welzel on March 7, 2004
When I first started riding at night I picked up a nice Cateye with 5 LEDs. I thought it was bright at the time and it got the job done until winter set in and things got really dark. At that point it just wasn't up to the job.
After doing a lot of research on HID lights, I decided to splurge. I chose the Light & Motion because it had consistently good reviews. People seemed to agree that it was very high quality and had very good reflectors (making for a better beam).
I have not been disappointed. The ARC is extremely bright, allowing me to ride at full speed on roads with no lights at all. The amount of light it throws is simply amazing and has allowed me to keep riding through the dark Northwest winter.
FWIW, the only difference between the ARC and the ARC Lion is the battery. The ARC battery is larger and heavier, but it still straps to your top tube, not taking up any water bottle space or getting in the way. Personally, I don't think spending an extra $100 on a smaller battery is worth it unless you are racing.
