I bought this kit for everything from car camping to ultralight backpacking.I must say that it is the best mealkit I've ever bought. definitely worth the price. The spill-proof cup is just awesome. It is exactly what it says, spill-proof!The spork is absolutely amazing. It is just the right length and the knife on it is just sharp enough. The spice box is great for just about any spice you would want. The harness keeps everything together in a nice, neat package.

This is a great little mess kit for packing as long as you do not need to cook in it. Everything you need for the chow line is there including a nice little 3 spice shaker that I load up with salt, pepper and old bay as a good general spice.

If you are going very light, I think you can reduce this down to just the outer bowl, lid and cup and leave the rest behind. You do need to have a pack partner that is carrying the cook stove and pot however our there is not much you will get out of this. But if that is the case or this is for a scout where the troop is preparing the meals out of chuck boxes then you are good to go.

I am an avid bushcrafter, and often dine in the woods. This little jewel is always in my pack. It is well made, and easy to clean up. Everything you need to have a nice meal in the woods. ~Wolf

If you are an ultralight camper, you might want to take a few less of the total pieces, but overall a great set. Just this past weekend we used the set to feed two people and two dogs all at the same time. Cleanup is a snap, and it gives you several options depending on how much you are eating. The top to the main bowl can be used as a plate as well, and everything fits together in a perfectly designed kit bound by a strap with a clip. Great price as well, it's one of my favorite camping items.

I used this while backpacking. It is very compact, works well and is sturdy. It is a bit heavy of you are concerned about weighing down your pack.

only received the 6 pieces meal kit and no carry strap or spice kit.
Now will have to return and wait for new item. disappointing.

The only reason I ordered this particular item is because all other mess kits I found had no utensils. This one supposedly came with a spork. I ordered it, it arrived on time, opened it up...no spork!!! Unfortuantely, I did not have time to return it, or even just get a replacement. My daughter now has to go camping with no eating utensil!!!
