This doesn't look like an imporant item when buying the LFM mealkit but it make toteing the meal kit around so easy, I hook it to my Kayak on day trips my backpack on hikes and my camera bag on shooting trips it's just great!

The harness to hold the light my fire is a great asset to the kit. It's best if you just leave it attached to your back pack so you won't lose it. (Which I didn't do the first time and now I have ordered a replacement.)

I have several of the Meal Kits and bought a couple of these to go with them. They have both failed. The elastic sides become worn very quickly and lose the elasticity. I have made my own from some webbing and shock cord that have worked out great.
Did not ever use the hook part with and have left them off of my self-built ones.
Love the Light My Fire stuff, but think this item was not well done.
