Light My Fire's sporks are the best designed of any sporks that I've ever used. I actually like them for picnic meals and brown bag lunches. One end is a combination fork and mini place knife and the opposite end is a useful spoon. This spork design is comfortable to use whether you are eating soup or cake. The only thing missing is a hole or clip to make it easy to attach to your bag or pack, but it may work with some clips if they are used in the narrow middle of the spork.

Titanium spork weighs little, but is strong. Color and finish are flat and dull. It looks to be a greenish color easy to lose in the wild for it would blend in on a camo background. Looks like an excellent color for anyone seeking a neutral color. Also good for folks that like metal flatware. This titanium spork is sized for individual use.

It is not magnetic, I know titanium is not magnetic, but last titanium item I acquired only had a titanium finish. This spork appears to be solid titanium so none sparking and not magnetic making it safe to use in some otherwise hazardous environments.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Utensil Too Far, August 17, 2009

Light My Fire has produced arguably the best spork, fork-spoon combination, ever made; unfortunately, they were not satisfied with this and insisted on trying to make it a knife as well. This was a bad idea for three reasons. First, the smooth side of a fork is good enough for "soft" cutting. Second, the serrations are neither long enough nor sharp enough to be much good as a knife, but they are sharp enough to damage the mouth if the wielder is careless. Third, for any serious cutting you'd need a separate knife and fork anyway. All in all it would be a much better product without the poor attempt at a knife.

However, other than this minor design flaw, it is a wonder: a genuinely useful spoon paired with a more than adequate fork in an ergonomic design, made of virtually indestructible titanium. Of course making the other utensil the handle of the one you are using will present difficulties if you need to switch back and forth without being able to clean it first. The only other nit worth picking is that the sunken lettering of the logo on the top of the handle is an annoying dirt catcher, a defining case of "too much information".

Still, for the purpose of substituting a single utensil for two, either in the great outdoors or the cubicle jungle, it cannot be beat!

Note: These items are also available in Teflon-friendly, heat resistant polycarbonate, individually: Light My Fire Spork and in 4-packs: Light My Fire Spork 4-Pack, and there is a slightly larger model for the "large handed" (or the "large stomached"): Light My Fire Spork XM and an even larger Serving Spork: Light My Fire Serving Spork for the main dish (or for real NFL players sporking Campbell's Chunky Fully Loaded out of the Black Cans).

I came across the "Light My Fire" series of camping products when I was in the modern design museum in Copenhagen. I couldn't help myself, I had to buy the Light My Fire Outdoor MealKit and a few extra forks. I really loved using the plastic spork for lunches at work so I decided to buy the titanium version. When it arrived I was pleased by it's strength, it's really clear it will last longer than the plastic version. I was disappointed, though, with the texture in the middle of the spork. From the photo on Amazon it looks like it's nicely textured metal but, in reality, it's some sort of rubberized paint. This gives the spork a slightly cheap feeling, not something you want for a $13 utensil. It also has a rather matte finish that almost looks antique rather than the shiny finish it has in the photo. Compared to the plastic version the knife component is much less sharp and not very useful for cutting. But that doesn't really bother me since I'd rather not have anything particularly sharp next to my lip. Anyway, my chief complaint is really the price. Given the issues I have with the spork I would be thrilled with the purchase if it was $5-8 but not at $13. Other than price, a great purchase to use on a camping trips or to reduce the number of disposable utensils used in daily life.

4.0 out of 5 stars one spork to rule them all..., January 26, 2010

I bought one for camping and to also keep at work as sometimes we run low on clean cutlery. What can I say, I am quite impressed. Lightweight, comfy to hold in my hand. Actually makes a great soup spoon - sort of like the little spoon they give you for soup in some chinese restaurants. I did for some reason think it would be "stronger" - from the big titanium advertising. It feels like I could bend it in half pretty darn easy so if you're thinking its "indestructible" it is not.

Hello,
This is the quintessential lunch at work utility utensil. Not only is it great for work but it give's campers and hikers a really nice quality utensil. I often use it at home to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner just because it's so darn fun to use and has that classy futuristic and cultured look to it. I've bought eleven of them so far, keeping one for myself and giving the others out as presents. The ladies I've given them to at the office really like them for lunches and snacks. The sporks clean up easily and they're strong and don't have a chincy weak thin plastic or wood feel to them plus they're long-time re-useable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Convenient, August 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Light My Fire Titanium Spork (Sports)
I had fairly low expectations of this. Just wanted something handy I could pack when traveling or on the road.

"Titanium?" I think. "Must be nigh INDESTRUCTIBLE!" Anyway, foolishly tried to tighten a large screw on my shaver in a hotel room (i.e. no tools at hand) using the spork, and was surprised when the tine bent fairly quickly. In their defense... it's not made to be used as a screwdriver.

Other than that, convenient, and I've not had the problem many others have described, of slicing the corner of my mouth open... perhaps I hadn't worked up enough of an appetite to really want to shovel the food in that fast. Or perhaps I've not used it often enough yet.

So, to sum up: Handy. Does what it's supposed to do. Just don't operate on the idiotic assumption, as I did, that being made of titanium means this is an unbreakable piece of cutlery.

4.0 out of 5 stars Light My Fire Titanium Spork (17cm), November 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Light My Fire Titanium Spork (Sports)
A very nice fork/spoon combo. At 17cm it looks a bit small but is big enough for regular meals. One dislike was what I would describe as a "dark grey matte coating" in between the fork and the spoon. I don't like the texture and would have preferred the entire spork to have the same finish that the spoon and fork parts that you place in your mouth have.

I dislike traditional sporks with the fork/spoon on the same side, as it makes it difficult to use either utensil to it's full potential. The spoon on those sporks makes it harder to enjoy soups and the like, and the fork makes it harder to get enough greens in a salad or pasta.

This spork/spoon (and knife) placement allows for a functional fork and spoon. The knife is a very light "serration" (if you could even call it that), and while it doesn't really work as a cutting knife (you would need another fork for proper knife use), the angle of that side of the fork makes for an effective pressure/butter knife.

If you are planning to use this for camping you may need to place it in such a way so that the curve it has is not warped upon arrival. It really is light enough for backpacking and for this reason I feel that it's worth the extra effort of packing this in, even considering the small difficulty of preventing it from being damaged (titanium is pretty hard/scratch resistant). A benefit over plastic utensils is that when you need to clean them, you probably won't have a sink and soap with you when your camping, titanium however, is comparably light (unlike steel) to plastics but it can be boiled in water to clean/disinfect the utensil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, August 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Light My Fire Titanium Spork (Sports)
I just used this on a 10 day camping trip and it was amazing. My dad had a foldable knife, fork, and spoon set but was jealous of the spork after the first few days. I used it for pancakes, soups, beans, brats, steaks, and more. It was exactly as advertised, I don't see any bad things about it. The serrated edge is not an issue when eating, seriously if you cut yourself you have other issues and probably shouldn't be backpacking in the first place, but you should bring a knife for other meats. I will continue to use in the future, I'm just happy I found it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but has problems, August 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Light My Fire Titanium Spork (Sports)
I bought this spork as a replacement for my plastic spork from Light My Fire. Unfortunately I was disappointed when I received it because I noticed a couple design faults.

Firstly, the Titanium spork bends without putting a lot of pressure on it. The entire spork is very thin which allows the user to bend the spork without much issue. It is easier to bend than the weakest silverware utensils I have encountered.

Secondly, the serrations on the "knife" portion barely qualifies it as a knife. The serrations on the plastic version are MUCH deeper, which performs MUCH better in cutting tests.

Other than those two issues the spork is pretty nice, its extremely lightweight, has a nice feel. I just simply feel that the two issues that exist are design issues that could easily be fixed in the manufacturing.

This is two issues away from being the ultimate travel utensil.
