practical analytical tools for relationship jyotish,

"Cornerstone analysis" as DeFouw and Svoboda call it, is blessedly simple and a very helpful first "sweep" to start a relationship reading -- before venturing into poruttham and other complex compatibility techniques. Those of us who had first astrological experience with western psychological style readings will find their technique to compare Sun-Sun, Moon-Moon, Lagna-Lagna, and Venus-Venus very natural. They emphasize the helpful 1-7 & 5-9, medium 3/11 & 4/10, & unhelpful 2/12 & 6/8 angles of the Sun, Moon, Lagna, & Venus as critical "cornerstones" of compatibility. Some discussion of using navamsha lagna or 7th house to see character of spouse. Insightful views of the power of Rahu/Ketu to disturb relationship perceptions. And they find Rahu exalted in Scorpio! Fabulous! Highly recommended to all practicing jyotishi.

A Comprehensive Introductory Survey,
By A Customer
This review is from: Light on Relationships: The Synastry of Indian Astrology (Paperback)
As a Western astrologer, I found this book to be by far the best introduction to relationship analysis using Eastern astrology. The authors are adept at teaching the fundamentals of this art in a broad but comprehensive survey, while introducing you to the language and culture of the jyotishi. This text therefore gives a Westerner a nice introduction to the jyotishi's perspective in such a way that a Westerner can understand Eastern astrology in context of its culture. The authors' periodic explanations of how the two systems are different are also insightful and valuable information. The authors are humorous, intelligent, well learned and their language is very practical and down to earth. What I am amazed at is how comprehensive this introductory survey is. Eastern astrology is an ancient, accurate and intricate art, and this text is a great starting point if you are pursuing this path of learning, particularly if you already have a Western perspective.

Here is another gem written by Hart De Fouw, but this time with another great thinker and author Robert Svoboda.Totally unique approach emphasizing the analysis of SAMA DASHA in some cases. And of course the language is as exquisite as before.

No one can match Hart DeFeuw when it comes to presenting a comprehensive, integrated, and entertaining look at the application of Jyotish to...well, just about anything. This book is a great follow-on to Light on Life and is indispensible for anyone wanting to add depth to their ability to examine relationships in the light of Jyotish.

Koti Koti Pranams to Hart de Fouw and Robert Svoboda,

This review is from: Light on Relationships: The Synastry of Indian Astrology (Paperback)
Om Amrtesvaryai Namah! Namaste! once again, our dear Hart de Fouw and Robert Svoboda have laboured mightily together and produced a work of art, one that amuses, entertains, and enlightens, all at once in the best tradition. i am always a great fan of their work, and especially Robert Svoboda's way with words, and ideas, since reading all 3 Aghori books, and his Greatness of Saturn...another masterpiece. He can make you laugh and cry at your own human frailty in one moment. All i can say is Koti koti pranams to his beloved teacher Sri Vimalanandaji, Smashana Tara's dear son, for He has done such good work in producing such a student!!!Such a student speaks volumes for the master....and by such loving, compassionate, and knowledgeable, not to mention humourous works, he is transmitting so well the Tantric Sakta view of the universe...Hart de Fouw i don't know so well, except thru the two books, "Light on Life" and "Light on Relationships"...but they are both excellent texts, full of Divine Light, and Divine Love in just the right amounts!!!!All one can say is that you both do your teachers very well, by your wonderful efforts in the service of humanity!!!i was even able to use the book as a help in analyzing other kinds of relationships, than marriage, (as suggested), such as the relationships between my Guru, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi and Her disciples and the devotees as well, and even between the devotees....and was gratified by how beautifully everything seems to work. Awesome! Spiritual! a book that every Jyotishi and student should own. Koti Koti Pranams! Om Sri Gurubhyo Namah Harih Om Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!!

Another insightful book by these two authors. Difficult concepts made understandable. It has helped clarify not only romantic relationships, but also given me insight into quite a number of other relationships in my life.

This is one of the most readable books on Astrology, and probably the best primer on relationship astro-analysis. It is very well written. Being an intermediate student of Astrology, I was able to follow the discussion of the entire book quite easily. It is definitely not for the beginner, but i think this is a must have for every serious student of astrology.

The Books is really written well. The author explains various things about horoscope matching as given in ancient shahtras. Also, the author has given some of the other things which are quite relevant as they explain many a things when a person relates to the other person in the previous birth. The book has dealt the matching in many ways and it gives may give insight about various phases of married life. It has also given many examples to explain the various concept adopted by Hindu as well as Western astrology.

Great book specializing on relations in any aspects using all the bhavas and grahas. They use less known techniques extracted from ancient text. There are some references that intend to make connections to western astrology.
