About the Author

Moira Katson writes Fantasy and Science Fiction novels. Born and raised in the farmland of the eastern United States, she is now a transplant living in the oft-frigid wastes of the midwest, where she is learning to love hot dish, fried food on a stick, ice fishing, and the hilarious faces her friends make when she tells them about winter temperatures. Despite the fact that she had been writing since childhood, Moira majored in nice, sensible subjects in college and went on to have a nice, sensible job, all the while continuing to write about dragons, courts, and spaceships. She has since bowed to the inevitable and begun releasing her work into the world! Her first novel, Mahalia, was released in 2012, and her latest series, the Light & Shadow Trilogy, was published in April 2013. I dont really know how to begin to describe this trilogy, except to say it was incredible !! It is not your typical romance fluff. It has everything in it, romance, intrigue, betrayal, suffering and it draws you so deep in you forget that you are reading a book !! It is not my usual type of book (horror) but I downloaded the 1st one, and when I was done, went looking at the authors site to see if there was more to read on it. I saw a contest for the trilogy, and was shocked to find out I had won. This review has nothing to do with that. I was just about to buy them when I found out I won. I would willing pay for this set, as it is worth more than the price. I am left feeling numb as I am slowly returning to this world after finishing it. It has twists and turns that you would never guess ! I am usually good at figuring out where the story is going, but not with this one. Shockingly different twists than expected. I cannot do justice to this book in trying to tell what it is about, more than to say it is like a historical novel, it draws you into its world of kingdoms, court intrigues, plotting and political infighting, etc. You just need to read it and experience it !!

I purchased the Kindle edition of this trilogy, and it was money well spent. The story is well written, and the characters really pull you in. The story is a balance of love, political intrigue and action, and keeps the reader guessing as to how events will unfold all the way to the end. The character development plays nicely into the plot, allowing the reader to guess at each character's motivations, while not being given vital information before it is needed to inform the plot. All the intrigue and deception builds to an exciting climax, and when I finished the final page I felt satisfied that everything had been appropriately wrapped up, but a little sad that there wasn't more to read. I look forward to seeing if these characters return again, but until then I highly recommend this series.

The female characters in this author's books are refreshingly strong while remaining emotionally complex. Ms. Katson creates a unique world unlike any you've read about before. I highly recommend the Light & Shadow Trilogy. With the e-book versions available for quick download, it's the perfect way to pass some time on a chilly fall afternoon.

This is a brilliant series, from Temar and the Duke to his Niece and her new found shadow and carries a plot that is hard to pull yourself away from.

I'm very glad I got these books as a trilogy because if I had started with just the first one, Shadowborn, I would have needed to immediately get the other two anyways. The development of the main characters is very well done and the plot keeps you guessing the whole way through. There is a nice balance of action, intrigue and suspense. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys mysteries.

I tried this one out on a whim and couldn't put it down. Very good Trilogy of books for people who like palace intrigues. At little bleak at times but I liked the two main characters and their struggle for survival at the royal court very much.

I read these books every spare second I had for a week - needing to finish them as quickly as I could. I can't begin to describe how good they were. I read a lot and these books have absolutely found their way to the top of my favorites list. They are amazingly well written with a little bit of everything for everyone. And I love that the ending wasn't perfect - it was real. It's an ending that makes you sad, but also happy for all the wonderful things the characters accomplish. Read them! You won't be sorry!
