Since 1990, much of Barbara Milman's work has focused on Jewish themes, particularly the Holocaust. In 1994, she led a panel entitled "Jewish Women's Artistic Identity" at the National Conference of the Women's Caucus for Art in New York City; and she was a member of a similar panel on Jewish women artists at the 1995 Jewish Women's Conference in San Francisco. In 1997, she participated in an exhibition of Miriam's Cups at New York's Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion.
Barbara Milman received a J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law and spent twenty-five ears practicing law, starting as a civil rights lawyer in Mississippi. Her last legal job was as chief counsel to the Assembly Rules Committee of the California State Legislature. She presently resides in Davis, California, where she is a fulltime artist.
