5.0 out of 5 stars Mad about POP!
The undisputed Queen of Australian POP, Kylie has made it huge all over her homelands of Australia and Europe, this is one of her finest albums to date and is packed with essential tune after tune, like the UK smash 'Spinning Around' and the soon to be US wild child 'Butterfly' released in the states very soon! Buy this album if your into to pop in a big way, buy this...

After quite a lot of hype about this c.d. (well - there was in the UK) I was pretty dissappointed when I finally got around to buying and listening to it. The two dance(ish) songs - 'Spinning Around' and 'On a Night Like This' are fairly good, although pretty average as far as a dance tune goes. The duet with Robbie - 'Kids' is also good (but if you want to have this...

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb dance music, June 2, 2001
By
This review is from: Light Years (Audio CD)
I personally enjoyed "Light Years", of course I love dance music and this cd is just fantastic I think. In my opinion, dance music is really suitable for Kylie's vocal stylings. I can't say that Kylie has the strongest voice unlike say Kristine W. who has quite a powerful voice. The beauty about dance music is that the artist's weakness can be easily adjusted to fit the type of music, and that is what we have here with Kylie Minogue. I do think that the remix of "Spinning Around" is better than the original version, but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed every single second of "Light Years". "Light Years" totally captures the '70s disco sound which I also happen to love. It isn't often that modern dance artist can capture the disco sounds of the '70s, and Kylie Minogue does it perfectly. Well worth the wait for this album to be shipped to me. I cannot find any fault with this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kylie's Best Album Ever !!!, June 2, 2001
By
This review is from: Light Years (Audio CD)
If you love Kylie's Light Years, then this album is too good to be true. The remixes of all the released songs from the album make you want to get up and jump around! Your Disco Needs You has never sounded so great, and the Please Stay mixes totally takes the song to a new dimension. This is all topped off with an awesome, sexy and seductive version of Physical. What can I say? This is a must for any collection!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome to K & M. Enjoy your flight......, December 10, 2003

When I think of Light Years, I think of Madonna "Ray Of Light". But an different kind of "Madonna". I think of Kylie Minogue. This album is a treasure. The album has groovy jet beats that noone yet has conquered. Something she stepped new gravel on.

Light Years covers the floor of different variety of tastes. The album has an blend of Pop, Jukebox Pop, Disco, Rock, & Trance. The song opening "Spinning Around" is an disco-pop song, which represent that this album is in for a good light year, presenting the year 2000. One of my personal favorites "Koocachoo" is an 50s, 60s jukebox groovy pop song with excellent sound effects, soundling like she's singing at a Dairy Queen's parking lot. "Butterfly" an trance, pop/dance track, shows that she has blossom from a caterpillar to an butterfly. Excellent choir background, and an natural talented tempo voice. "Kids" the duet with Robbie Williams, has an different kind of flavor. It's an rock song, messaging about kids. It's very different for the album, but it what makes Light Years outstanding.

Last and not least the track "Light Years" is an excellent way to end the journey. In this track, she speaks on in intercom, traveling her viewers to Light Years. Beautiful soft background vocals, nice soft trance/pop song. The songs flows perfectly. The album flows perfectly. This album shows that she has put alot of creativity, in creating the album.

Kylie Minogue finds an new style everytime she's comes in public. Unlike Cher, Madonna, & Britney Spears, she's less provocative, and less in the public.

Light Years is an excellent album. Beautiful album cover, great hits, and a talented, matured voice.

Even though she is not as reconigzed like the other female diva artists, Kylie lures people to her beautiful melodies, and natural voice talent. I have to say, this album is surely an Light Year for all her fans...

But surely, one for the one and only, Kylie Minogue. K&M signing off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Light Years Tour Package Details (For those who don't know), October 27, 2004
By
This review is from: Light Years (Audio CD)
This edition is similar to the 2cd, 9 track bonus cd import from Germany (which is still available online) except it has an 11 bonus track cd. It actually has 3 exclusive tracks. 1. On A Night Like This (Bini and Martini Dub Mix),2. Please Stay (Metro Mix), and 3.Physical (Non-lp track, cover of Olivia-Newton John song). It omits the Please Stay (7th District Radio Mix) from the 2cd, 9 track bonus import cd though. It's called the Tour package because she sang Physical on her On A Night Like This Tour, i guess. The version of physical on this cd is not as slow as the version she sings on the tour (Kylie -Live In Sydney DVD), but it is just as sexy. The metro mix of Please Stay is more of a dance club remix than the other remixes of it. If you can track down this Tour Package, go for it. Physical and the metro mix of Please Stay are very good, but they are the only reason you would purchase this version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kylie's Light Years ahead!, June 30, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Light Years (Audio CD)
This album takes Kylie back to her roots - pure pop - and infuses it with a strong blend of higly dancable, infectious backbeat. Sure it's high camp, but that makes for a pleasant change from the plain pop that her competition have been putting out there lately. This takes Kylie out of the darker, more personal albums like Kylie Minogue and Impossible Princess, and returns her to centre stage where she belongs. With a handfull of number-one singles, it's surprisingly not springled with a few good songs and a lot of filler like her earlier albums - everything on this one is good. Kylie has brought with her a host of top-name collaborators on this album to turn out what is probably the best pop album of the year.

The duet with Robbie - 'Kids' is also good (but if you want to have this single buy the Robbie album instead - 'Sing when your Winning'). However, the rest of the album is utterly awful - all the songs seem to be stuck in the 80's. Its a shame to say that Kylie hasn't moved on!! Its also worth noting that the three fairly good songs on the album (mentoined above) are the only ones not written with Kylie's input. The rest of the songs are written partly by Kylie and they certainly do reflect her influence as they are all bad 80's style songs.
