Product Description

Editorial Review

Waiting at an intersection for a train to cross will never be quite as fun as at the Light and Sound Level Crossing, another nifty module in the Wooden Railway system by Swedish toymaker BRIO. This component, which blends elegant beechwood construction with battery-powered sound and lights, makes a novel addition to your existing BRIO Wooden Railway layout. With its section of characteristically grooved track, the crossing activates its two flashing light standards and clanging warning bells when triggered by either the magnetic couplings in BRIO vehicles or by young engineers pushing a button on the battery box (two AAs not included). Painted touches include strips of two-lane street on each side of the track, and even a little patch of garden. --Tony Mason

5.0 out of 5 stars Adds a ton of fun to train play, February 17, 2002

5 stars on educational? -- it only teaches cause and effect. But since it also draws my 19 mo old son to the train table to endlessly set off the pleasant sound and light effects while playing with his train set, thats fair. Its the same width as three pieces of track however, so you need to set aside a fair amount of space, so its a better part of a large floor layout than on the table if you have a lot of buildings.

I highly recommend this to all Brio lovers. Kids will love it because of the flashing lights and noises but parents will love it because it's not too noisy. You can be in the same room watching tv and not be bothered. Very cute!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brio is Great but can you take the noise?, August 1, 2006
This review is from: Light and Sound Level Crossing (Toy)
I picked up at Tuesday Morning for 7.00. I was more than pleased with the quality of the toy, but it truly drives me crazy. The sirens just keep on playing long after they should have stopped.
My son loves it so I still would buy it again. It has been durable and my son likes to play with it so I justify it that way.

Overall our Brio toys have held up to a beating and still look brand new. They are worth the money.

It's a great alternative to the more expensive Thomas and Friends version.
