Real insight into conversion in prison,
By
This review is from: Light over the Scaffold and Cell 18: The Prison Letters of Jacques Fesch (Paperback)
To read this actual account, private letters of a condemned man, and to understand the emotional struggles in the conversion process, in real life, not fiction is both moving and powerful. Few words can describe the character and growth and maturity of Jacques in his last years and month and days

Powerful Teacher,
This review is from: Light over the Scaffold and Cell 18: The Prison Letters of Jacques Fesch (Paperback)
I am halfway through this book and have already referenced it several times in conversation and bought two more copies for friends. It is one of those rare books that you can't get out of your mind because it teaches on so many levels. Jacques is able to help us understand the mindset of an adult who has had a dysfunctional childhood and also undergoes a genuine conversion. It helps us contemplate our own mortality. It shows the value of a single trusted friend and how a sincere friendship can have a ripple effect on all those lives that are touched by an individual. Above all, it portrays the interior struggle that we all face with good and evil. Despite the tragic circumstances, this is a book about hope. It is a book about finding joy amidst tribulation. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is suffering, anyone is struggling with regrets, anyone in prison definitely, but don't limit it to only these people. This is a gem of a book that should be read by all. The world will certainly be better for it.

Never Give Up Hope,

This review is from: Light over the Scaffold and Cell 18: The Prison Letters of Jacques Fesch (Paperback)
This is a book for anyone going through a difficult time. It gives insight into the minds of why people do what they do. It also shows how reaching out to others in need can transform lives. Very inspirational. It seems as if the topic would be very depressing, yet I found it to be quite the opposite. I think at some point we all contemplate our own death, and this shows us how to do it with courage, fortitude, and faith in a loving, merciful God.
