Because of the figure's shape, the only non-distorted magnified image is available in the center by looking straight down. So it's not very practical to use except directly on top of the paper, and then the magnification isn't very strong.

Also it doesn't look much like a bear, but that you can kind of see from the product image.

I'm going to try this magnifier instead.

I purchased this after seeing it on a list of top Christmas stocking stuffers. It's a great little item to have in your purse or on your desk. I use it for the extremely fine print on financials and other reports.
