This review is from: Lightening Force (Video Game)
Lightening Force its given name by sega of America is really Thunder Force 4 thanks to that I did'nt get this game sooner Till I found out it was called Lightening Force. I got this game because I own Thunder Force 3 and it was really good and has some of the best music around. This game is what the sega genesis is about it has really nice graphics the music is nice and fits the game vary well, one of the only draw backs are that their is some slow down but it wont ruin the fun. If you have a sega genesis get this game you wont regret it!

Lightning Force - great side scrolling shooter,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lightening Force (Video Game)
This game (which is also known as Thunder Force IV) is one of the better side scrolling shooters out there. It's a pretty tough game (there are several difficulty settings). The large collection of levels have great variety, with superb multilayered background details (parallax scrolling is used to great effect in this one). There are tons of enemies, and their behavior varies a lot. The end level bosses are pretty durable and throw a lot of different tricks at you (although their weak spots are pretty easy to figure out). Getting to them is sometimes more difficult than the actual fight. Music is, uh, pretty good. Imagine industrial music through a Genesis soundcard... at any rate, it sets a good backdrop for the frayed-nerves dodge for your life and shoot anything that moves gameplay.

One Step Forward & One Step Back,
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Lightening Force (Video Game)
Graphics - 5/5
Either the best or one of the best looking Genesis games. There is some slowdown, but not enough to dampen the experience. Game Control - 4/5 Tight and responsive, but limited by the Genesis controller itself. Gameplay - 4/5 The same as Thunder Force III with some minor differences. Plays fast and smooth, but it can be difficult to tell when you are actually damaging an enemy's weak point. Story - 2/5 The instruction book setup is intriguing, but there's nothing of substance in the game itself; although, that's kind of par-for-the-course with games from this era. Music - 5/5 Yet another stunning soundtrack from Tecnosoft. Even sounds a little BETTER than Thunder Force III's already excellent tunes. Overall Score = 4.0 / 5 The same as Thunder Force III in most respects, but with slightly better graphics and slightly less intuitive gameplay. Still an excellent purchase for any shooter fan.
