Nothing like they used to be,

I've ordered Browntrout hardcover weekly engagement calendars for years and have always been pleased. The paper quality was good, the photos were clear and sharp and the print was dark and easy to read. Sadly the 2011 calendars were made in China and are terrible. The paper is dull, the photos are fuzzy, the covers are warped, and the style, font and type color for the previous, current, and next month data at the bottom of the pages is virtually illegible. Cost cutting is one thing but they pretty much ruined the product. I won't be buying from them again.

I really like the photographs in this calendar.... It makes me happy to look at them and gives me a few more places to travel.

Inexpensively made and strage layouts,

First off, mine came damaged (front and back covers were significantly bowed, several page corners were turned down). My review, however, is not based on the damage. The quality of the paper is super flimsy, and the ink from the color photos has either bled through or rubbed off on several of the white calendar pages. I personally don't like that the weekly format starts with Sunday and ends with Saturday (for planning purposes I prefer engagement calendars that start with Monday and end with Sunday so you can group your weekend events together). And, weirdly, the month-at-a-glance grid is not in regular calendar format, but is linear! Meaning the month at a glance is laid out all on a single horizontal line, or at the beginning of the calendar on the year at a glance view, the months are laid out on a single vertical line - very strange and difficult to make sense out of, much less try to use. The positive notes are that the photos are lovely, and there are 52 photos (1 for every week). But can't make up for the strange layouts and cheap construction. My apologies to the publisher (I feel badly writing a negative review), but I do not like this at all.
