This review is from: Lighthouses of Southern New England: Massachussets, Rhode Island and Connecticut- A Pictorial Guide (Paperback)
As a lighthouse lover and photographer, this is the most useful book I've seen. It's not that the photos are the best; they surely are not. But for each lighthouse, Thompson gives a concise history and a multitude of photos taken from different angles, which gives the reader a good sense of how the lighthouse is located in space. Often Thompson includes historical photos, or contemporary photos taken inside the light, or from the air. Each has instructions on how to get to the lighthouse. This is an excellent book to find used, and it includes all the content of Thompson's separate books on Mass, CT, and RI. My only regret is that Thompson did not put out a book on Lighthouses further south.
