The beauty of this Cooper Lighting recessed kit is that you no longer have to guess which housing belongs with which trim - the can and trim come packaged together. This combined packaging greatly simplifies the often confusing process of selecting recessed lighting.

The P302TW kit combines 7-1/4-inch diameter white trim and black baffle with 6-inch low profile housing. The light is thermally protected and listed for damp locations making it ideal for use in a variety of applications in new construction, remodels, or suspended ceilings. The black baffle helps to reduce glare and control light. A combination of several recessed light kits can be used to illuminate an entire room, or single lights can be strategically placed as task lighting in areas such as the kitchen, home office, or laundry room. It is also approved for through branch circuitry (connecting fixtures in a series).

Proper installation of the light requires that insulation be kept three inches from the housing. Captive bar hangers which expand to accommodate joist spans of up to 24 inches are included for suspended ceilings or new construction. Light uses 150-watt R40 or 150-watt PAR38 bulb (not included). This unit is poorly designed for remodel installations which require pulling the can out of the plaster frame and later reinstalling. The can barely clears the ring of the frame. It's a struggle to get the can out and an even bigger struggle to get it in. Lightolier lights are much better in this regard. It's also a bit of struggle to get the frame into the ceiling hole as the junction box barely makes it through. Not an impressive design. New construction installations are probably much easier.
