Book Description

October 16, 2006
Each of us carries within our hearts a "dream of freedom" where lives feel fulfilled and are truly worthwhile. Financial planners offer clients the most comprehensive opportunity to discover and integrate a financial life plan that in fact melds meaning with money. No other professional can help the client unveil his or her most profound dreams and values, and then articulate a financial strategy that empowers successful implementation. The book empowers planners with the processes for connecting the client's dreams of freedom with the strategies of financial planning. It provides training in the Kinder Method(TM) of life planning and a skill set that can provide a consistent and successful process with clients, leading to that moment called "lighting the torch."

5.0 out of 5 stars Marrying Meaning With Money Through the EVOKE(c) Process, October 14, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lighting the Torch: The Kinder Method(TM) of Life Planning (Hardcover)
This book describes the E.V.O.K.E.(c) process, which is a truly remarkable method for working with financial planning clients that want a deeper relationship with their planner, and a plan for their lives. Using the techniques and process so well described in the book, a CFP(r) practitioner can take their client(s) to a deeper understanding of their life's goals and aspirations. When used with the knowledge obtained from a careful and complete reading of the "companion" book "The Seven Stages of Money Maturity", a planner can provide very meaningful service to their client.
True understanding of the E.V.O.K.E.(C) Process which stands for Exploration, Vision, Obstacles, Knowledge and Execution comes after one has attended the 5 day training course offered by the Kinder Institute, so named after the co-author George Kinder.

For those seeking a deeper relation with financial planning clients, there is no better book in this field.

This review is from: Lighting the Torch: The Kinder Method(TM) of Life Planning (Hardcover)
This is a rare book in that it is both highly practical in the very specific skills and processes it teaches and also highly inspirational in sharing a vision of financial planning done right. Anyone with an inclination toward life planning will be extremely well served by reading this book. George Kinder is a man of great depth, experience and vision. He mines these qualities in creating what is really a textbook for how to offer true life planning. The reader is sure to experience revealing self-reflection while learning how to guide clients through their own. One thing which differentiates this book from others on life planning is that it points to the importance of and teaches some very powerful relationship building skills. It reveals how central to the life planning process clients' emotions are and teaches how to work with them. Full of inspiration, wisdom, joy and vision, this book is a must read for any financial planner.
