ANYTHING by Edward W Robertson is now a MUST READ to me. I have never met the man, but I can safely guess that his head must be at least twice the normal size. Imagination such as his could simply not be contained in a regular sized brain. Some Authors can "take you there" when you read their work. EWR not only takes me there, but I can taste. smell, and feel his stories as well. Lightless takes you on a journey you won't soon forget, and if you don't give it a try, you are doing yourself an injustice. Sheer enjoyability! (SIC).

Edward Robinson's short stories are as engrossing and fun to read as his multi book series are. In "Lightless", he creates an interesting fantasy world unlike anything you have likely encountered before, but manages to do so in a way that seems totally believable. As I have said before, if you haven't given this author a try, you owe it to yourself to do so. You won't be disappointed.

Holy cow!

This is a fun read. at 60k pages you can finish this one in a plane ride or a day on the beach. I say that also as a warning to start reading it in a place where you wont need to do anything for a few hours. Its fast and engaging, with wild beasts and a constantly moving storyline with an evil influence forcing the entire world to tear down, move and rebuild constantly as the 16-years long day gives way to a 16-years long darkness. As the King needs something retrieved from what he believes has entered the Lightless, the only man up for the job, who's been there before, is a rough a tough rogue who can lead you through the story with a zip in your step and an eagerness to push him forward to stop at "the next slow spot"... Fair warning... That's the end.

Characters are rich and developed for what we would call a Novella, and he keeps you very engaged from the minute they step foot on the journey to the Lightless. If you're a fan of Edward W Roberston, (if you're not yet, you should be), or if you want to get into a really quick and delightfully dirty story about fighting fire with fire, a little love, a little revenge, a lot of bad guys and a whole lot of butt-kicking, this is your book. Its well worth your time!
