5.0 out of 5 stars Very compact, useful and durable
The Lightload Towels are an excellent addition to your backpack or survival kit. They are extremely compact and do not take up any room in your gear. I found it to be very durable despite some of the other reviews who state that they are not much better than a regular paper towel. It is much more durable than a paper towel and it is very absorbent. I do not recommend...

3.0 out of 5 stars "towel" is misleading; not machine-washable
It's a great *paper towel* but that's all it is: a reusable paper towel that is absorbent and stronger than normal paper towel.

Just because they called it a "towel" without any qualification, I assumed it was machine-washable, and boy, was I surprised. Don't put this in a washer with clothes if you don't want the "towel" to turn into a mush of lint that...

5.0 out of 5 stars Very compact, useful and durable, February 28, 2010
This review is from: Lightload Towels (Two Pack12x12"hand Size), the Only Towels That Are Survival Tools (Misc.)
I do not recommend putting them in a washing machine considering they are so inexpensive there is no reason to have to wash them.

Besides being a towel they have other useful purposes as well such as fire tinder, water filter, bandage, and good to clean eating utensils and pans.

The only potential drawback to using the Lightload Towels is that it takes water to activate the towel so that it will expand. If you are low on water then consider another option such as a bandana.

Overall, a great product that should be a part of your gear.

Not as thick as I expected, but nice when you're in a pinch. They dry within an hour. Great for clean up, a wash cloth, face towel etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I wanted., July 18, 2011

This review is from: Lightload Towels (Two Pack12x12"hand Size), the Only Towels That Are Survival Tools (Misc.)
I purchased these small towels for my emergency 3-day kits that I am making for my family. The goal was to have some sanitation/cleanup ability in the kits to help clean up and feel human if you are going through hard times. These towels are very small and slide right into the empty corners of my kits, which is excellent.

I did buy one extra and opened it to see what I was getting. It was exactly as described, a 12 x 12 towel that needs water to fully expand. They are advertised as machine washable, but not too many times I expect. They are not really a full-time washcloth as I don't believe they would last much past a week or two of regular use. But for camping, or for my kits, a week or two of good hard use is exactly what I'm asking for.

If I had to make a suggestion for product improvement, it would be in the packaging. If these are to be used in camping and emergency kits, and if they are activated by water, I would prefer that they would be fully enclosed in a watertight plastic wrapping so they don't get wet before I want them to. If the individual discs were at least relatively watertight, I would probably bump these to five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small towels great for emergencies, May 9, 2011

I bought these towels to be part of an emergency gift basket I'm putting together for charity. I bought a few for myself, thinking they would be good for my own emergency kit and day-long volleyball sessions at the beach. I was completely surprised at how small they are. But that surprise turned to delight at how much they absorb. These are definitely a staple in my beach bag for drying off after dipping in the ocean. And I can't wait to test them out on a hiking/camping trip soon.

These are tiny, but sturdy despite being super thin they really absorb a lot. A must to keep on hand if you travel a lot.

These little packets hold an amazing product - they are lightweight and yet so very absorbent and useful. I have one in my bag at all times in case I am caught in the rain, I have them in our 24hr emergency kits and I have some in the car. I highly recommend this product for every household. No bulk and do exactly what they are supposed to do.

"I really like the towels. They are a great way to dry off after working out without carrying around bulky towel. I keep extras in my car since you can always use a towel. I really appreciate the completely reasonable price and durability of this product."
