After a month of struggling to find the perfect carrier for me and my (now) 6 week old daughter, this one is the one! We also have a Moby Wrap, which I adore, and I don't think there's a better carrier for newborns. But, it got tedious taking it on and off, especially for nursing or pumping. I also found it to get hot when we'd go out for a walk with it. I wanted something I could throw on easily to tend to chores, walk to the mailbox, etc.

First, I tried a locally made ring sling from a local store that carries breastfeeding and babywearing supplies and I found the rings to be too small and the fabric too stiff. It would constantly bunch up in the rings, making it difficult to adjust. I would have to re-thread the rings every time I wanted to use it. FAIL.

Second, I got a Beco Butterfly II carrier on eBay. It is for a front and back carry with two straps, like a backpack. Being a woman with an ample chest, this did not fit well for the front carry, but is a good one for my husband.

I felt like I was bleeding money trying to find the perfect carrier. They are expensive! So, I ordered a few different ones from Amazon, to try them out and be able to return them. I tried the ZoloWear Ring Sing, the ZoloWear Pouch and then this, the Maya Wrap. The ZoloWear ring sling was made from a beautiful fabric; so smooth and soft to the touch. It had larger rings than the first one I tried. I thought it would be the one. However, I found it had the same problem (for me) with being able to glide the fabric through the rings. So, the fabric makes a difference (and here I thought it was just the rings). I tried the pouch and it seems like it'd be better for a baby with better head control. I might try it again when my daughter is bigger.

So, the Maya? LOVE IT.

The Maya Wrap has been nothing but a lifesaver.

I bought this wrap when my daughter was just six weeks old, and nearly a year later, I can still say that is is the best money I ever spent on her (aside from diapers, formula and food of course).

At a year old, she is nearly 30 lbs, and when she wants to be carried the wrap is the only way to do it (otherwise, I can only handle her for a few minutes).

It has especially been a lifesaver during plane trips (particularly when it was just us two), countless church services, and most recently... Disney World. She hated being in the stroller and as soon as my husband would pick her up, she would want to be put down to walk, but as soon as I put her in my wrap, she would relax and take her much needed nap while we continued to enjoy the shows without being tied to the stroller (since everything at Disney requires the stroller be left behind).

Some additional notes, it's perfect to use as a nursing cover when the baby is smaller and the rings are great for clipping toys and tethers to keep baby entertained.

I definitely definitely recommend this product.

The more I use this, the more I love it! I have had this carrier for about 6mo, and at first I merely liked it, but each time I wore it, I loved it more and more.

In General:
-The rail is long (I'm 5'7" wearing a medium), but I like it that way. It makes a great sun or nursing cover
-When I'm not using it as a carrier I have used it as a blanket, burp cloth, and diaper changing pad
-The olive color is beautiful and goes with any outfit
-Rolls up small to easily fit in diaper bag
-Easy to adjust, but baby's weight keeps it from loosening while in use.
-Baby always feels secure in here
-The padded shoulder is nice, but I still prefer my Ergo when I'm carrying for a long time. However, when I am around the house I choose this one almost every time.

0-3mo:
-Fantastic! The only way anyone should carry a newborn is high up on the wearer's chest, chest to chest with the baby, with the baby upright. The only way to achieve this is with a ring sling or a wrap. The Maya Wrap makes this hold so easy! It is easy to adjust to the baby.

3-6mo:
-Not an easy stage to carry in this, but doable.
-They recommend a kangaroo or buddha stye carry, which I find uncomfortable.
-I rarely used that, instead I used basically the same carry as my newborn hold. Baby was held as if in an ergonomic or mei tai carrier, sitting facing me with knees higher than her bum. Like hip carry but on my chest rather than my hip.

6mo+:
-An easy carry with baby sitting on my hip, her knees higher than her bum, and the fabric up under her arms. Sometimes I would slide her to my front, like the previous two carries I used.

Cute Look: wrap the rail around the rings after baby is in to give your carrier a cute new look, or just to get the rail out of the way!

I got this Maya wrap as a baby shower gift before my baby was born. I've used it from very early on- a few weeks old. I love it so much. For me it completely replaces a stroller (I don't use one actually). I have 4 different baby carriers and this is the one I use the most- especially when we're out all day long on shopping trips. It takes some practice to use it right, but it's worth the effort!
Pros:
--- small/light so easy to put in diaper bag
---comfortable to wear- the most comfortable of all my carriers (I have a seven days sling, an ergo a baby bjorn and my Maya wrap). I'm on the very plus sized and this one (I have the large) fits the best of all my carriers, with no parts digging in.
---my baby loves it! she never complains in it.
---Easier to get out in a parking lot than a stroller, less bulky while in stores etc. I use it while shopping (she fusses in her carseat). It doesn't get in the way like a stroller does.
---Multiple carries/holds up to a high weight.
---In theory you can nurse in it, but I haven't figured that out yet
---Cheaper than a lot of options out there
--- People tend to leave her alone when she's in the wrap in public- if she's in a carseat people feel free to poke at her
--- the pocket is great
Cons:
--- Can be a bit tricky to get used to (but worth the effort)
--- it can look a little granola/new agey. my husband won't wear it. Maybe a more manly version should be available? black perhaps. Don't know for sure
--- a back carry isn't realistic till the baby is about 12 months or so.
--- hard to get head support right when baby falls asleep. she often ends up sleeping with her head resting on my arm (but then again she falls asleep in the wrap when she won't any other way!
