5.0 out of 5 stars Red is so good that I hate him for it...
...well, not really. But he is one of those rare songwriters that is both prolific and talented. With four (five?) albums under his belt to date, Peter and the Wolf is but the latest incarnation of Red's genius.

Featuring haunting-yet-tear-jerkingly-beautiful harmonies from Dana Falconberry, this collection finds Red making recordings wherever the mood...

The first song I ever heard from Peter and the Wolf was "Safe Travels". That song is so great, I thought I'd just buy the album thinking other songs would be comparably good. What a waste of money. This album is terrible! All the songs and dark, the music doesn't match up with the lyrics or tone, he sounds like he's just complaining and whining. Honestly, save your money...

Featuring haunting-yet-tear-jerkingly-beautiful harmonies from Dana Falconberry, this collection finds Red making recordings wherever the mood strikes him. The result is an album with a sound so unique and wonderful that it quite literally forces you to pay attention to it.

All I can say is that Red Hunter (peter and the wolf) is one of the greatest song-writers of our time (in my opinion), and this album brings in elements of nature, love, and travel into simple tunes that you can't just play once. I would recommend this album to anyone!

From the first song to the last I play again and again and again. So glad I found this artist and album. Heard a track on a Pandora station and found the album. Constant rotation while sketching and looking forward to next CD. Pulls at your cutest heart strings. Thanks Peter and your Wolf. Cool...

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh my, what have I stumbled upon, June 24, 2010
This review is from: Lightness (MP3 Download)
I found this album listening to Pandora's "Devendra Banhart" station. The song Dear Old Robin came on and it blew my mind. The next day I bought the whole album, and I've listened to it 80 times (according to my iTunes play count) since. My wife and kids have nearly all of the songs' words memorized. I haven't enjoyed an album this much since Bon Iver's first album. It has the long-lasting playability that I got out of the Beatle's White Album, Dylan's Basement Tapes (the Dylan songs, not the Band's songs), Devendra Banhart's Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon or Andrew Bird's Weather Systems.

I can't get enough. I also can't believe this guy isn't massively famous.

My favorites on this album:
-The Ivy
-Safe Travels
-The Highway
-The Bonsai Tree
-The Apple Tree
-Dear Old Robyn
-Silent Movies

Buy it, Buy it! BUY IT!

This album is terrible! All the songs and dark, the music doesn't match up with the lyrics or tone, he sounds like he's just complaining and whining. Honestly, save your money and just buy the song "Safe Travels" on its own for 99cents. It is the only song worth listening to. If you don't believe me, listen to the samples and you'll see.
