Glued-to-your-seat action, September 24, 2008
This review is from: Lightning: Bolts of Destruction (DVD)
This is one of the best action movies made for TV. When I watched this the first time, I was riveted to my seat and wondering what was going to happen next. The story and the special effects including the exploding payphone and the sparks raining from the light fixtures add to the appeal to this movie. This movie has become my second favorite sci-fi action movie next to "The Core".

Typical, enjoyable, end of the world as we know it, film., May 11, 2009
This review is from: Lightning: Bolts of Destruction (DVD)
I just got this movie and I've watched it twice. It is a good movie that I am suprised I haven't seen on the sci-fi channel. I like the story line and the acting was ok. In short the world is in danger. positive charged lightening( apparently more dangerous than regular lightening) will bring on the next ice age. The scientist has an idea, on how to save the world with the help of her family. great film.

Sci-fi Disaster Flick of Timely Interest, September 17, 2011
This review is from: Lightning: Bolts of Destruction (DVD)
This is a reasonably paced movie which managed to hold my attention without too much difficulty. If you're a sci-fi/disaster flick fan you'll probably enjoy the movie and feel your time was not wasted. There is a lot of science fantasy mixed in with a teen age prodigy accomplishing amazing technological breakthroughs in a college library setting.
If one is prepared to accept the assumptions of the movie and move on the movie is sufficiently entertaining to carry the evening. The special effects aren't too bad and the concept of the problem is timely as we seem to be approaching a solar maximum in the 2012-2013 timeframe. There has been some speculation as to the effects this solar maximum will have on our technology with some comparisons being made to the 1859 Carrington Event.
I've read estimates from the scientific community that another event of similar severity could cause huge damage to our technological infrastructure and take 4 to 10 years to recover. There appears to be no real idea how severe this next event could actually be; at least we don't have long to wait to find out.
If you have any further interest in this subject you may want to enter, carrington event year 1859, into your search engine.
