5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have
Being a hard rock fan of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, etc., I caught a portion of "Texas Twist" at friend's party and asked who the incredible guitarist was. When I was told "Roy Clark", I said "You mean...?". That's right. The same goofy guy I saw on HEE-HAW as a kid. For anyone who appreciates guitar, any guitar, Roy Clark may...

This album is not showing his lightning speed on most songs. They should have left "lightning" out of the title.

I still can't believe that I found this album on CD. My parents bought this album when I was a kid, maybe 10 years old. I ended up confiscating it and wearing the grooves off it. If you love guitar pickin' (Alvin Lee, Steve Morse, Outlaws,...) you'll love this. I saw Roy on an episode of "The Odd Couple" and he just RIPPED UP!! an acoustic guitar with a 2-minute flamenco thrash solo. WOW! The Cd's short (30 min. +/-) but Oh So Sweet! Thank god for CD's. Now I can play it to death all over again. Memories...

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING, February 11, 2000
This review is from: Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark (Audio CD)
A little short but unbelievable. I have only listened to Roy Clark on Hee Haw. I found this CD at Yahoo's Broadcast site where you can preview the entire thing for free. I immediately came to Amazon to see if I could buy it! As another review I read explained ... the title says it all, and if Roy Clark were a classical guitarist he might be the best ever. This CD leaves you begging for more, and makes you wish you could have seen these songs played live. Can he really move his fingers that fast? Next I am going to Ticketmaster to see if Roy still tours!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-hear for Guitar Players, August 23, 2009
This review is from: Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark (Audio CD)
A friend turned me on to this awesome obscure guitar record. Roy's done a lot, but this is my favorite style for him. While today's guitar players, knowing what shredding sounds like, may balk at the title "lightning", it's pretty fast for the times. Go ahead and play along with Twelfth Street Rag and Drifter's Polka, they reach a frenetic pace at the end. Nonmusicians will also like this record if you're into surf or country music, because it's a hybrid of both sounds, with some fab 60's vibe mixed in. Check out this rare gem. I wish there were more albums like this!

2.0 out of 5 stars Less than expected, January 24, 2008
This review is from: Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark (Audio CD)
Roy Clark is one fabulous guitarist, but this album does not do him justice. There are two or three songs which are worthy of the album title. The rest are nothing special. I expected one hot tune after another, but most are nothing to get excited about and the arrangements are lacking as well. It was quite a disappointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars The HeeHaw Wiz-Kid, September 29, 2007
This review is from: Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark (Audio CD)
Yeah, there is always a treat out there if you look hard enough and ask yer elders. Does anyone out there remember Roy's numerous guest appearances on the '70 TV Sitcom, "The Odd Couple"? He could just melt the audience with that acoustic and make you forget you were supposed to laugh at Felix and Oscar. What a gift. It's as good as finding those rare, early LP's of Glen Campbell doing nothing but picking a twelve string. Yeah....that's another treat you need to seek out! Enjoy!
