Book Description

Anyone can time travel, but only one family can change the past.

That is, until history lost them.

As lightning strikes move time travelers across dimensional chessboards, Evy Rivera must use her lightning bullwhips to outplay, outmaneuver, and outgame the system before her mentors realize the true extent of her ability. There’s never been a girl lightning rider and her mentor is not pleased about having to train the first.

When Evy is thrown back to ancient Spain with nothing but her weapon and wits to keep her alive, she must quickly assess friends from foes.

Begrudgingly, the centurion Constantine agrees to train Evy to become a warrior, but as their missions align she is distracted by her growing attraction. He is raw with a tortured past and his graceful power sparks something deep inside Evy that makes her want to be more... better... worthy. Their heated arguments are surpassed only by their intensity on the battlefield… and between the sheets.

But Constantine cannot help Evy uncover her family's destiny. As the alteration draws to a bloody close, Evy must make hard decisions and put her job before her own desires.

Can she unravel the truth before she unmakes the wrong history?

Editorial Reviews

"Now THAT is how you write a kick-ass Heroine!!

What I loved - that the heroine is Hispanic (like me), that she is not a cliche, that she comes from a normal, happy and loving family(unless you count generations of Lightning Riders but she didn't know that), that she loves her Papi and that she takes control of her own destiny."

"Loved it! Can't wait for the next installment to come out!

Evy Rivera. Kick ass heroine with a sassy personality that can command lightning and time travel. Way cool stuff.

Constantine. Hot alpha male. Roman warrior who has suffered great personal loss. Love this guy. Seriously.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Female Character June 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I instantly liked this book. I love reading about strong female characters and Evy is definitely one of them. She lives in a male world of designing and riding motorcycles. She is tough and seems to be a sucker for the wrong guys. Something she definitely decides to work on when her last boyfriend takes all her furniture when he moves out. This forces her to stay with her father for a few days so she has a bed to sleep in.
Her father was once a prize fighter when he was younger named Victor Rivera and people still come up and ask her about him. Evy has a very soft spot in her heart for her papi. So when staying with him they decide to open a box that was found in the attic by her mami. In the box they find a book that has been in the Rivera family for generations. With this book they have stumbled onto a big family secret. However, they aren't quite sure what they are looking at. Evy hopes it will explain why she can produce some type of lightning with her hands. This very cool, in her opinion, new ability that she possesses.
The book they have discovered is all written in Spanish. While reading the words of a certain passage she finds in Spanish to her papi so he can translate, she unknowingly sends them both back in time to different places. She goes to Spain and her papi goes to New York. She is shocked to find herself in 1927 Spain and wonders how she is going to get back. She learns that the lightning her body is producing is the cause. She finds her way back home again and finds her papi in the kitchen looking younger holding a wad of money. He, somehow, visited the Mob. This sets them both on a journey as they learn that they have inherited the power of the lightning rider. A lightning rider has the power to alter events in time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Read! April 5, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Evy Rivera is one of those characters that spurs readers to action. She makes me want to shake a place down and take names! Also, she tangles with --wait for it-- Constantine. I adore his name and pretty much everything about him. I also found the premise, finding a book and discovering unknown family history very intriguing. Can't wait to read the next!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique and Action-Packed Fantasy May 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Original, exciting, and action-packed with a kick-ass heroine and a super-sexy alpha male. I really enjoyed this book!

Evy, a welder and motorcycle builder, is at a low point in her life when she discovers she is the only female in a long line of "Lightning Riders" or time-travelers. It is the very difficult job of a Lightning Rider to travel through time and change the future for the better. Quite a daunting task! Evy shows great strength and courage, and with some coaxing takes the challenge head-on. The author cleverly gives the reader glimpses into Evy's head and her often humorous inner-dialogue, adding another layer to the story and Evy's character.

Traveling to ancient Spain, Evy discovers her destiny, which includes Constantine. A super-sexy ancient warrior, his and Evy's relationship is fraught with delicious and electric sexual tension. I enjoyed the relationship between these strong characters. She is not a damsel in distress; he sees her strength and trains her to be even stronger. The author did a fantastic job of creating a connection between Evy and Constantine; a chemistry that is greater than time and space.

The beginning of the story is a bit difficult to grasp at first. There is a lot of information thrown at the reader. It's necessary to simply suspend disbelief and go with it; I'm glad that I did! I was rewarded with a clever and exciting page-turner, an interesting cast of characters, and the potential for an epic series.

*I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kick-butt Heroine! July 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The stunning cover drew me in but the characters and writing style are what kept me captivated. A kick-butt, bike-building latino chick who can both wield and ride lightning into the past, what's not to love? Evy's hesitance and imperfections made her perfect in a lot of ways for me. The tension, and magnetism, between her and the Roman warrior Constantine is smoking hot. While it ended a bit abruptly for me with a few too many loose ends waiting for another book (and I'm one who doesn't mind an open-ended book normally), I still enjoyed it well enough that I will purchase and read the next novel in the series. I look forward to it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Action Packed Read! May 31, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
ARC supplied by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The first thing that caught my attention was the stunning cover with its vivid graphics. I wanted to find out if the character on the cover is as "bad-ass" as she looks. This story did not disappoint. The author does an excellent job of developing each character through her vivid details. I enjoyed seeing Evy, the main character, go from down on her luck to kick-ass herione who is able to use lightning as a weapon and to her transport through time. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what other adventures await Evy.
