Beware of Hype,
By
This review is from: Lights of America 2004LEDDL-35K-24 LED 4 Watt Standard Base Light Bulb (Misc.)
I measured the light output of this bulb and compared it to a 50 watt halogen spot light using a lux meter. I have to estimate to compare due to the different focus area of the two bulbs but I found that the halogen produced about 5 times more light. My watt meter showed a 50 watt consumption for the halogen and 2 watts for the LED, not 4 as claimed. The light from the LED bulb was a very harsh bluish typical LED light and was very focused making a 4 foot spot on the floor from 11 feet high. My family made me remove it. It does make a great 2 watt reading light in a flexible head lamp holder and I would give it 5 stars there if not for the hype. I purchased two of these bulbs for the same price as this one from Sam's club and one bulb did not work. By the way, anyone with a digital camera can compare relative light intensities by using exposure information obtained by taking a close up picture of a white piece of paper exposed to each light.

45 Watt Light Bulb - Not!,
By
This review is from: Lights of America 2004LEDDL-35K-24 LED 4 Watt Standard Base Light Bulb (Misc.)
I've had a couple of these Lights of America LED Light Bulbs for over 3 months now. They aren't as bright as Lights of America claims them to be. There's also a quality control problem as a number of LED's on one of my light bulbs have burnt out.Brightness ---------- I don't have a lux meter but these light bulbs are very obviously NOT equivalent to 45 watts as stated in the product description. The lights have a harsh bluish tint to them that I can never get used to. I also noticed that their brightness has diminished over time. Blown Bulbs ----------- The inner rows of LED's on one of my light Bulbs blew out within the first few days, leaving only the outer ring of LED lights functioning. So much for the supposed 30,000-hour lifespan of LED lights! Recommended LED Light Bulbs --------------------------- You might want to look at the following light bulbs that also use LED technology: - Lights of America Pendant Style Soft White Light Bulb I also have a Lights of America Pendant Style Soft White Light Bulb which, strangely enough, is brighter despite having only 20 LED's. Unlike typical LED lights, the light is not harsh but has the warm and pleasant orange glow of a standard incandescent light bulb. - Grip 30 LED Light Bulb I came across another LED Light Bulb, the Grip 30 LED Light Bulb, which is very favorably rated. This light bulb actually costs a lot less too! Both the Lights of America Pendant Style Soft White Light Bulb and the Grip 30 LED Light Bulb use a standard base, so they will fit in a standard socket. Conclusion ---------- The Lights of America Standard Base Light Bulbs fall short of expectations. I really wouldn't recommend these.

Works Great. looks Nice. But...,

Looks great kind of like a chandelier. Claims 30,000 hours of use and only .44 cents a year based off 3 hours a day use. My only complaints are that it is a bit spendy compared to CFL's and that the light acts more like a spot light. Other than these issues the light is great. It is just the right amount of light for my porch. I believe it would work well in hallways as well as the light does not need to be too broad in these areas and puts out the equivalent watts it claims. I would advise against using these lights in floor and table lamps; but for many over head use this light would work just fine saving you money and the environment extra stress. I truly believe LED's are the lights of the future as they are very long lasting and extremely efficient without the quality of light issues CFL's have been infamous for. In short, though a bit more tinkering is needed, I highly recommend this light and to look for future improvements.

They don't last,
This review is from: Lights of America 2004LEDDL-35K-24 LED 4 Watt Standard Base Light Bulb (Misc.)
I have two of these bulbs in kitchen fixtures over the sink. They are a little over a year old and are used for a couple of hours each day. One of them has completely died after several months of intermittent flickering which nearly drove me crazy. Considering the cost, I wouldn't buy Lights of America bulbs again unless they could prove they had improved their poor quality.

I bought a pair of these at Sam's a year ago, and one has already died after a couple months of annoying flickering. I thought the price was very good for LED lights, but now it's clear that these were not worth it.

Great lights for some applications,
This review is from: Lights of America 2004LEDDL-35K-24 LED 4 Watt Standard Base Light Bulb (Misc.)
I bought 3 of these lights for a track light over the bed mostly used for reading. They fit well in the small track fixtures and act as spot lights with a fairly narrow beam angle. They provide an excellent soft reading light with a bright blue-white color without glare. After several weeks use I bought more of them for a ceiling track light fixture with 3 lamps over a desk area. They replaced 40W halogen bulbs and give a bright blue white-light at about the 6 ft distance that is better than the previous bulbs with much lower power consumption. I find the quality of the LED light superior to the old incandescent bulbs, but it might take an adjustment to adapt from the yellow light we have long been accustomed to. These bulbs use only about 1/10th the energy of the bulbs they replaced and produce a good (if different) quality light. I consider them a huge win from both the energy efficiency and quality of light perspective and their long life is just another bonus. Most of my future lights will be LED's as the technology produces ever more varied products to suit various applications.

Works, but...,

I got 2 of these at Costco (or Sam's?) for around $15. The light is bluish-white and maybe about 15 watt equivalency. It's hard to say because the color is so weird. I've had them running pretty much non-stop for about a year in some bookcases in my family room. It's nice that they're dim because they don't bother me watching tv. The blue color is more light a nightlight. I wouldn't buy these again.

Very bright with no heat!,
This review is from: Lights of America 2004LEDDL-35K-24 LED 4 Watt Standard Base Light Bulb (Misc.)
I found these bulbs at Sam's Club and put them in my kitchen because the LED gives off no heat. They are also plenty bright and I like the triangular formation of the bulb. I have recessed canister-type fixtures and these are perfect. I went back to Sam's to get more but they were all gone. I don't know why some people haven't given good reviews because I am planning on buying more of these -- from Amazon.
