4.0 out of 5 stars Not 40W, but still awesome
I agree with another reviewer that these are more like 25W bulb brightness. In fact, I replaced 25W bulbs with these in a fixture and the brightness looks almost identical.

1.0 out of 5 stars Big price, short lifespan
I purchased about $100 of these bulbs from Sam's Club 3 months ago. They're supposed to be the equivalent of a 40 watt incandescent bulb, but they're nowhere near that bright, more like a 25 watt. They're also supposed to last for 30,000 hours, which comes out to about 3.5 years running 24/7, but I've already had two bulbs burn out. They saw maybe 100-150 hours of...

1.0 out of 5 stars Big price, short lifespan, April 5, 2009

I purchased about $100 of these bulbs from Sam's Club 3 months ago. They're supposed to be the equivalent of a 40 watt incandescent bulb, but they're nowhere near that bright, more like a 25 watt. They're also supposed to last for 30,000 hours, which comes out to about 3.5 years running 24/7, but I've already had two bulbs burn out. They saw maybe 100-150 hours of usage. At $5 a piece, that's unacceptable.

EDIT: It's now 6 months since I purchased the bulbs and I've had 6 of them burn out so far.

1.0 out of 5 stars Never-ever-buy this or any LED product from these crooks, June 30, 2009
This review is from: Lights of America 2026LED-30K-24 LED 1.5 Watt Standard Base Pendant Style Warm White Light Bulb (Misc.)
I've been taken as a sucker before, but never so blatantly. Bought a total of nine (three different types) Lights of America LED bulbs. Two died the first month, two died the second, three died the third. Only the two floodlights still work in month four. I don't expect much from them. Lights of Americas won't answer email or respond to any type of communication. So much with trying to save any electricity or carbon or money over the long term. I feel cheated. I wouldn't feel less violated had they stuck a gun in my back and robbed me in the street.

1.0 out of 5 stars Short lived, but nice output, July 29, 2009
By
This review is from: Lights of America 2026LED-30K-24 LED 1.5 Watt Standard Base Pendant Style Warm White Light Bulb (Misc.)
I must admit that the lumen output is adequate for a desktop lamp, but when I take in the price and the expected bulb life against the actual bulb life I have to give this the lowest rating possible. I bought this bulb from expecting to get an environmentally friendly bulb I'd keep for years to come. It lasted 3 months. It was not abused and it was rarely used -- maybe a few hours for a couple of nights a week. This should last 5 to 10 years, not less than 5 months! It didn't even last as long as a bulb that costs a tenth of this item's price.

I will avoid all Lights of America products in the future after this experience.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of Hype, January 23, 2009

I compared this bulb with a 60 watt incandescent bulb using a lux meter and found the light output to be one tenth. This would make it about a 6 watt equivalent which, by looking at it, is a fair verdict. The watt consumption was too low for me to measure but certainly not 1.5. On the bright side (ha ha) it was was a warm white and works nicely in a lamp to allow passage through a room without turning on the overhead light.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only lasted six months, December 7, 2009
This review is from: Lights of America 2026LED-30K-24 LED 1.5 Watt Standard Base Pendant Style Warm White Light Bulb (Misc.)
The light output decreased over time. I know this because I have a light meter and I tested it when new and after three months of use.

It finally failed at six months.

3.0 out of 5 stars About the same as the 20 LED bulbs sold at sam's club, January 12, 2009

This is by the same company that makes the ones that are sold at Sam's Club. The one's at Sams only have 20 LEDs and are 3 for $14.95. They claim 40 watts of light but are pretty dim. The light is directional and therefore does not give off a lot of light in every direction. I have one in a stairwell to the basement and it does give off enough light for that. They probably would be great for a reading/desk lamp.

1.0 out of 5 stars Light output drops significantly over time..., November 9, 2009
This review is from: Lights of America 2026LED-30K-24 LED 1.5 Watt Standard Base Pendant Style Warm White Light Bulb (Misc.)
I bought one of these to try out and was very impressed with the both the quality and level of light output. While not suitable for task lighting, they were perfect for porch lights...or so I thought. I bought a total of four for use as porch and driveway lights and after about two months of nightly use, the light output gradually dropped to about 1/10th of what it was when new. Now they are not usable at all. I recommended these bulbs to several friends for use as porch lights who all reported the same issue. I wrote to LoA regarding this issue. We'll see what their response is. If it's positive, I'll post an update.

1.0 out of 5 stars High failure rate, do not last long, terrible customer support, November 1, 2009

I splurged and bought 20 different LED lights from Lights of America at Wal*Mart last year to replace various florescent and incandescent lights around the house (night lites, reading lamps, over the sink lights, flood lights, extra lighting in the bathroom). 25% were dead right out of the package. After just a few months of moderate use I had an 80% failure rate. It's been almost a year now and I only have four LED lights still working - and one is blinking (which some did before they died). Wal*Mart took back the first 25%, but foolish me, I lost the receipt for the rest (if you decide to risk it and buy these, keep your receipt where you can find it, and make copies if you buy multiple LEDs - don't give away your only receipt the first time one goes bad). Contacting Lights of America does not do any good - silence (so much for a two year warranty). The LEDs are made in China and I believe they probably went with a contractor who underbid so much that he had to cut corners by using old electronics (capacitors, etc). Apparently Lights of America have very little quality control auditing/oversight.

This is an inferior product that will not last anywhere near what it should (it should last for many years of normal use). Customer support is non-existent. And Wal*Mart should stop stocking their product.

The 30K in the name is about the color. Not a warm white which I would like. It puts out about the same light as a 20 watt.
