Good security light.

I'm very happy with these and would have no hesitation to buy more or recommend them.

The 18Watt was more of a warm light and these are really blue looking.

The 27-watt 9027 (and 65-watt 9266) lamps work well in a protected covering. We have several them in our barn, and they have been mostly trouble-free. The light plastic gooseneck is a bit weak and requires a lot of tightening to prevent movement. A more robust pivot point would help prevent fractures from over-tightening.

Light of America advertises these as being an "Outdoor" light. THIS IS NOT TRUE. You have to mount it under an eave or roof to prevent rain from hitting it. Also, you need to mount it with the threaded end of the mounting gooseneck pointing DOWN. If you don't, water and condensation will dribble down the gooseneck and fill the light up with water. Once it does fill up with water, it will shut down (my experience). Draining the fixture and letting it dry out brings it back to life. Perhaps squirting a generous amount of silicone sealant in the gooseneck could prevent water from getting in.

Lights of America has been getting cheaper with its lights. Both the 27-watt and 65-watt version comes with the lens retaining screws simply taped to the inside of the mounting plate. They also stopped supplying the alternate black plug to disable the photocell. They tell you to cover the photocell with black electrical tape to disable it.

Lights of America needs to review their Quality Control. Simply tosssing hardware into a box without an explanation could lead to easily avoidable failures. (Such as the lens falling off and/or leaking!)

Their cheapest version (18-watt) is the model you should avoid like the plague. We installed ~30 of these, and over 50% of them failed within 3 months. Truly a piece of junk! I believe they have discontinued this one. When they were working, the put out a sickly-orange light. Absolutely AWFUL!

We have two of these in our front yard. I really like the soft white light they provide on the front of our house - not the really glaring type you get from other lights. They are cheap to operate. The light dims after a couple years use so if one lamp burns out, I have to replace both of them to get the same intensity. The fixtures are cheaply made and I usually have to replace them every four or five years. Home Depot in my area no longer carries them so I buy them online. They are not that expensive so I just consider replacement of the fixtures part of my normal household upkeep.

Like others said this light is a little weak looking in the neck area. You do have to tighten the bolt some to get it to stay in one position. The light is not small so I can see how high winds/etc could move the light. It is a flag light is my best guess, for aiming upwards. It has small drain holes at the top, they would be at the bottom if aimed upwards. It has an arrow on the end saying to aim it angled upwards. I drilled holes in the other side and used this light in a machine, though it should stay dry for the most part. It puts out a good mount of light certainly over 100W compared to incandescent.

At less than twenty five shipped it is a great deal if you can use it. The entire light is plastic. I actually used a metal base plate from a similarly built halogen light to mount it, but mostly because those holes matched up where it was bolted. The light comes with that plate you can screw on to a surface or electrical box, and the neck pipe threads into it similar to other lights in this style. You can adjust the angle of the neck at the pivot and tighten the bolt.

I give full stars because of the price and it works very well for my use. The bulb is about $10 to replace that is also a plus. I just ordered a second light. The light is pretty large for the little neck on it so maybe that is why the bolt does not hold it that well, then it can move instead of breaking but I'm not sure. One could easily screw a bracket to the housing long as you avoid the internal parts, to better support the light itself if needed. The whole unit is fairly lightweight and light output is very good. I used a piece of duct tape over the photo cell and wired a switch to control it. Since I am using it inside I do not foresee any issues with the neck. Just saying if you mount it on a building outside or something it could move at the pivot if something put force on the light, and it does not look like a good idea to over tighten it.

My company has used this product from Lights of America for several years and it has gone down in quality in the last years. Both the 27 watt and the 65 watt fixtures have problems with no help from Lights of America. They just put it off on the supplier and then you have to take a refund which deducts for shipping and handling no replacement is offered.Amazon and Lights of America don't care about the satisfaction of the customer. You can expect a 30% failure rate from this product.

I bought four of these to replace HPS outdoor lamps on a barn. Rain water leaked into two of them after less than 3 years and destroyed them. Replacing the lamps and drying the interior did not help.

This light did not work as advertised. Came on fine in the dark, but would not shut off in light either artificial or out side daylight. Returned product not recommended.

Defective lamp pins; had to be resoldered after one day use. Cost more to return than have repaired locally. disappointed in USA made product.
