3.0 out of 5 stars slowly growing on me...a little., March 24, 2008
This review is from: Lights Out (MP3 Download)
a reviewer said "if you liked the production in "Diddy's" Last Night then you will enjoy this one too."

to be honest, the first time I actually heard this I didn't know what else to think other than the fact that the beat definitely had a good 80-ish thing going for it. the vocals were OK but nothing outstanding.

and although still not outstanding (after 4 listens), nor great they are pleasant if a bit predictable. no REAL vocal work put into it. but it's catchy. and the beat can't be denied.

but don't be surprised if when you first hear it it's a BIG MESS. that's what i thought too! but listen again later...or now, and it will slowly, progressively sound a bit more collected.

it'll never be a classic but i don't think that's what a group naming their new album *welcome to the dollhouse* is aiming for anyway. :)

3 stars + .4 for the production.

3.4 stars.

end note: ladies will like the lyrics. but the disconnected, discombobulated feel to it first listen throughs are almost always gonna make one feel like too much is going on. it's a grower, for sure.

i don't know whether to shake mario winans' hand for making this beat or scratching my head if i ever saw him for confusing me from the get go...all in all, just give it time. it's not so bad.
