Lisa Rocks!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lights Out / Savior (Audio CD)
Many people most likely bought the "Lights Out" out of curiosity...to see if Lisa Marie Presley sounds like her daddy, the undisputed King of Rock and Roll. Even so, I think a lot of folks were pleasantly surprised with what they heard. Lisa definitely has her own style, and doesn't try to emulate her father. Unlike other children of celebrities, Lisa doesn't try to capitalize upon her father's legacy or image. This album is her own personal statement, and is her way of opening up and telling the world who she really is. Forget all the tabloid b.s. - Lisa's dark, brooding lyrics examine many facets of her life, often with deep introspection. She reveals her thoughts and feelings on things such as her heritage, her children and even her own self image. Many of the words of her songs are very raw, and are set to really great music. "Lights Out" and "S.O.B." are probably the best cuts on the album. This is one of the best albums I have bought in a very long time. If you purchase this CD, you will not regret it.

I haven't really followed all her personal trials and tributes, so I write this review based on her music and interpretation only. I knew this was a hit the first time I heard it. It has a darkish, countryish yet popish tone. The superb melody line and supporting guitars should propel this record into the Top 20. It's modern enough to attract part of the Modern Rock audience. Very good Lisa Marie! I can't wait so I can buy the whole album!

she looks like Elvis - but she's her own person,

The CD is a deep spiritual soul trying to be heard. Lisa Marie is Elvis' daughter - and there are some similarities - but she has her own style of singing and a voice that is very soulful.(When listening to her I even hear a bit of Melissa Etheridge in her voice and style.) Lisa Marie has brought her thoughts and life to her music. The music and lyrics are great. I hope Lisa Marie continues her career and doesn't have the hassles that Elvis had with fame and fortune.

Lisa Marie ...,

This review is from: Lights Out / Savior (Audio CD)
Lisa Marie ---daughter of the man who litterally 'invented' Rock&Roll--- strikes with a first and powerful collection of songs, including "Lights Out" (a solid hit, even before the full-length cd was released). The cd-single also introduces "Savior", a fine song that is NOT part of her full-length "To Whom It May Concern". For this song alone the limited edition cd is worth the chase (collectors hurry before it becomes unavailable!).Presley's voice fits naturally with the genre. She has a rowdy presence on the stage ; sometimes, the music has almost the energy of a metal band. In "Lights Out", the 35-year-old singer appropriately 'borrows' a few gestures from her enormously famous father. Her approach to music could remind you of Sheryl Crow, indeed, but I've also found striking similitudes with the voice timbre of Christine Haas of the bygone Red Siren. However, Lisa Marie has definitely HER OWN STYLE, it is not the work of an epigone or imitator. The songs are splendid material that range between Adult Contemporary and Alternative Pop/Rock. She adds novelty to the actual music scene ---for that alone we must be grateful to her....

Sometimes in life, we really look at kids that became famous only because of their parents being famous and infamous. It does sometimes gets very unbelieveable. In the case of Lisa Marie Presley, she was one who was always targeted, because of her father, Elvis Presley. Still, she can always now try to set herself on her way with her own sound and feel. Her first single, Lights Out is a hard feel of growing up in Memphis, and singals what she feels is going on with relationships. The song is fantastic, and proves to hear a strong debut from Lisa Marie Presley. I strongly like this song, and I really choose to listen to her music over Jennifer Lopez and Kelly Clarkson, because she doesn't fake it.

Give it/her a chance,

Now I am hip-hop, R&B, neo-soul when it comes to music but I sometimes venture out of the box when I like something. I like "Lights Out" the song and the video caught my eye and I definately said Sheryl Crow with more rock & roll. I know 35 is old to be getting into the music game (tank) but I think she needed the maturity to take the slings and arrows that might come her way.Let her stand on her own and don't mention, you know who, and you'll agree there is talent there that should be allowed to develop and mature. If Janet Jackson can break away from her families image, Lisa Marie can make people let go of her dad's fame and allow her to have her own name.

I'm so into this album and Lisa Marie's courage. To put out music when your family is who they are takes guts and she has them. I'm so happy she decided to step forth and give us her own voice. I love how it sounds and I love the songs themselves. I didn't see what else the producers had done, I will look, but they clearly knew how to collaborate with Lisa and her song writing. She also wrote every song on here, some with others but all the lyrcis are 100% hers and what a fantastic contribution. Love it and thank you Lisa!

Excellent album by Lisa Marie Presley with haunting lyrics and melody. Her voice is silky and intense and heated and has that yin/yang quality. By the way, loving this cover art, but back to the music. This album is the perfect answer to the question of who Lisa is and also, where has all the good music gone! LOL. I love this album. Such a great one.

Digging this record people! Loving the track with Billy Corgan co-writing. Plus I dig buying things that were for other countries. Glad I found this and Lisa's voice is so cool and husky and right on. I dig how she crafted the lyrics and melodies and I'm super pleased with this. I'm listening to it right now as a matter of fact! She should have won a grammy as best new artist that year!

I'm a fan of Lisa Marie Presley for who she is an artist, not who her family is. I like that she makes her own voice heard and says things truly unique to her. Lights Out is my favorite song for sure and I really enjoyed this.
