My Personal Favorite,
By Jenerator "Jenerator" (The West) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lights (Audio CD)
LIGHTS, what can I say, but WOW! If I had to choose a word for the entire package, it'd be sweet. Sweet because her music makes me smile, brings a dreamy nostalgia to the air. Sweet because her voice is sugar-filled and melodic, almost like another instrument in the mix. Sweet because Lights' music is so simple it's complex. She's found her niche in the music world, and she's fantastic. I've never heard another artist like her. In a world of copycats, Lights brings originality. She brings light!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lights (Audio CD)
I bought the Lights album by Lights (Valerie Poxleitner) because I had heard four of the songs on the Internet. The more that I listened, the better that I liked the pure, clean sounds from this young artist. My four favorites are the four that appear on her myspace Web site: Drive My Soul, February Air, White, and The Last Thing On Your Mind. My favorite has always been The Last Thing on Your Mind, with Drive My Soul as my second favorite of the four, February Air my third, and White my fourth. There are two more songs on this CD, Ice and I Owe You One. I like them both, and they will probably grow on me the more that I listen to them.
I love the fresh sound of this newcomer to the music scene. Her songs are her own creation, for the most part, and reflect the innocent enthusiasm of youth. Her sound has been described variously as bubblegum pop, indie, and synth new wave. However you define it, I like it and recommend it. I was a little disappointed in the copy that I bought, released by Underground Operations, in that, when played on my Windows Media Player, there appeared no track or album information, just Unknown Album, with the tracks merely listed by number.

Old Navy Found Another Star!,
By Anita Martini (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lights (Audio CD)
I first heard of Valerie Poxleitner AKA LIGHTS from an Old Navy commercial. Checked the Old Navy website and viola, I found her. LIGHTS features a refreshing new approach on pop music. I really like all the songs from this EP. She presents a "feel good" style that make it nearly impossible to feel sad after listening to it. LIGHTS is perfect! Well, that's another song by her. LOL.
