5.0 out of 5 stars THE ONLY FLASHLIGHT TO HAVE
I have had two others like this for many many years, use them almost daily to find things including my food can pantry.
I have NEVER had to put new batteries in yet and have occasionally left the light on for a few hours when I forgot it.

3.0 out of 5 stars An interesting item
A nice unit. I bought it mainly for the battery longevity and to try the new technology. I haven't had it long enough to comment on the battery longevity. Otherwise, probably it's best advantage is the light being "close to natural light". This can help in differentiating between dark brown, grey, or navy socks in a dark sock drawer. Or between olive green and charcoal grey slacks in a dark closet. Otherwise, it doesn't put out as much light as most other small flashlights, say, like a Maglite. The light-beam is more diffused, not focused at all. It likely would not help finding a dime you dropped on the pavement at night! Of limited use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for what I needed, December 30, 2003
This review is from: Lightwave LW-TEC2000-SLV Tec2000 4-LED Flashlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
I haven't used any other LED flashlights before, so I cannot give you an aficionado's opinion, but I will say that I love it. It lasts for many times longer that a regular flashlight on 3 AA's, which aren't included for some reason.
The main reason you would buy this flashlight is as a reading light. It is not, in my opinion, powerful enough for many outdoor purposes, but for reading, it's perfect. And the light itself is different from that of a bulb flashlight: In a bulb flashlight, you have an adjustable ring of light, but however you adjust it, there will be parts of the ring of light that comes out that you are always going to want to keep focused on the words you're reading. In this flashlight, a diffuse glow lights up the whole page, and it is so much easier and comfortable. And don't get me wrong when I say it's not as bright as a regular bulb; it not that much of a difference, unless you're outside, partially because the beam is not as focused, so it won't illuminate something very far away. But this can also have a survival aspect to it, as it lasts for so long. One minor downside: the light more of a blueish tinge than I'm used to. Regular flashlights have a yellow tinge. But it's well worth it, in my opinion.
