5.0 out of 5 stars Durable, Affordable, and Small!
I was a little iffy about purchasing such a cheap easel for my large sketchbook drawings and heavy canvas paintings, though was pleasantly surprised to find that this easel is VERY durable and can hold my heaviest sketchbooks and canvases without becoming "shaky." I am 6'4" tall and am able to stand comfortably while using this easel and can still use it as a tabletop...

1.0 out of 5 stars Frustration galore
So I used the easel for the first time today, looking forward to working on some art and ended up fighting with the easel for 70% of the time. First, the screw on the bar portion that holds up the sketchbook/canvas would not tighten, so the bar kept sagging on one side. Second, I placed just a large sketchbook with a masonite board and the legs began to bend and slide all...

I was a little iffy about purchasing such a cheap easel for my large sketchbook drawings and heavy canvas paintings, though was pleasantly surprised to find that this easel is VERY durable and can hold my heaviest sketchbooks and canvases without becoming "shaky." I am 6'4" tall and am able to stand comfortably while using this easel and can still use it as a tabletop easel if I'd like. If you are a college art student like me, you can understand how difficult it is to haul around all of your supplies across campus. This easel can completely fold down into a small bag (included) that I can easily fit into my backpack, which doesn't cause a strain on my long walks. I was pleased with the price, durability, and light, compact size of this easel and I strongly recommend it for start-up artists like me and other college students.

4.0 out of 5 stars Compact and easy to carry, February 18, 2008
I really like this product and the price was great. My only complaint is that the legs spead fairly wide apart, hard to set up in small confined areas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easel is light but sturdy enough, adjustable., March 25, 2009

Can be easily moved around because it is so light, but still feels sturdy enough to feel secure while using. Adjustable.

This is a great easel! It's extremely light, and surprisingly compact--and it even comes with a bag! I'm used to the traditional, very heavy wooden easels, so I was a little afraid that it'd be shaky, since it's so light, but it's been fairly steady--watch out for wind though. I love that it can be adjusted to a table-top easel too! Great to carry around, bring on trips, etc. All this for a great price! Two complaints: 1) the top part that holds the easel, if adjusted too high, doesn't always stay straight--but that's not a problem if the easel's holding a canvas or sketchpad. 2) it opens rather wide, so it's a little hard to use in smaller spaces. Overall though, this was a great buy, I'm so glad I decided on this one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good buy at great price!, February 5, 2009
The Easels (I bought two) are perfect for our display purposes in our office. They compress to a small and convenient size and each has its own carry bag. They are lightweight and ideal for simple use.

So I used the easel for the first time today, looking forward to working on some art and ended up fighting with the easel for 70% of the time. First, the screw on the bar portion that holds up the sketchbook/canvas would not tighten, so the bar kept sagging on one side. Second, I placed just a large sketchbook with a masonite board and the legs began to bend and slide all over the place. The easel kept sliding toward me and sagging in angle. Third, I don't know what one of the reviewers are talking about when they say that they are 6'4" and comfortable using the easel standing up. I am only 5'6" and I felt that even the highest height setting could not get my sketchbook eye level with me when standing.
But it really is tiny and well collapsing and light. Otherwise, it sucks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy Easel, August 7, 2010

I bought two to display art at shows. Worked great ... like a tripod easel should. I like being able to fold it into a nice little compact package when not in use. Space is always desirable and less is more in that area. I wouldn't say these would be good for really heavy pieces though ... or really tall pieces on canvas either... the little telescoping top clamp won't reach the top of the artwork and bulges the canvas works. Although it adds to the 'tension' of my work ... it's not attractive ... and a bit disturbing ;) If tall works are to be displayed on these and the back of the work is wood or flat panel ... no problem, but you won't be able to secure the clamp at the top. That's all I can tell you. I like mine for what I can and DO use them for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for small spaces, art on the move, March 26, 2010

I ordered this easel for an area with very limited space & hadn't had much luck finding anything under $30. When I got it (it came early!), I was able to handle it very easily and was happy that I could use it on a desk top or free-standing. The carrying case is nice and it's all easy to put away when you're done. It's very lightweight with excellent portability, but I haven't tried it outdoors yet so I'm not too sure if it will be stable if it's breezy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Easel, June 28, 2010

I recently purchased this easel for oil/acrylic painting. I normally use a 11x14 canvas and it fits in the easel clip like a glove.

For being as lightweight and simple as it is, it's very sturdy.

I was very pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a small compact lightweight easel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Multipurpose easel, May 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lightweight Aluminum Easel with Travel Bag
The easel is what I expected: lightweight and multi-functional. The storage bag is perfect for transporting it. I wanted an easel that I can display something on (not use for painting--I don't think it is strong enough for that, but an artist friend of mine says it would be great for plein air painting with some extra support added--like some sandbags!)and have the flexibility of either displaying it as a stand-alone easel or sitting on a table top. This does the trick.

The price was perfect--but the shipping cost was almost equal to the price (which I only saw at the last moment since I am a PRIME member of Amazon and don't pay for shipping on each individual item that is shipped --from Amazon). This was shipped from Ben Franklin and took quite some time to arrive--that is the one negative about this purchase--and the $11 shipping cost seemed a bit steep. Other than that--the easel is exactly the lightweight, multi-functional easel I was looking for. So all told--it was worth buying.
