5.0 out of 5 stars solid and sturdy this really does the job
This tripod is very sturdy and it is light weight. It doesnt come with a manual, but it is VERY obvious how to use the quick release screw to attach to the bottom of the camera. I also saw that a different reviewer didnt know how to lock the legs on place...hmmm All you need to do snap the lock on each leg and you are good to go

I was looking or a tripod that would be solid and work well, with a good price to boot. Based on the above reviews, I figured it would be fine.

I guess I might be a bit more "hardcore" of a photographer than the average user. I'm using a Canon 500D/T1i, that might be a bit heavier than smaller cameras others are using.

I have tried many other tripods and I agree with the other reviewers, this one really does the job.

It comes in a nice nylon bag and there are 2 bubble levelers, a hook to attached your camera bag. The tilt and pan functions are smooth.

it is light weight and folds down to a small space. When it extends it can go extend to be eye level even for a tall person like me

oh there is also a nice carrying handle built into the upright of the tripod so it is supper easy to move around

On to the good. It comes with a convenient bag with a shoulder strap. It's light. The feet swivel well. It has a handle right below the head.

On to the bad. It's much too flimsy for any serious photography. If you're trying to shoot something very precisely, there is no hope with this tripod. I ended up cranking everything as tight as possible, and I still had to force it against it's settings to stay exactly where I wanted it. It doesn't hold the camera up if you have a bigger lens on it, so it slowly droops. One time a mystery screw fell out from the head in the bag. I couldn't figure out why nothing worked for like 20 minutes, until I found the screw in the bag and figured out how to put it back in.

Not recommended if you're in any way particular about composition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Lightweight Tripod! Highly Recommended, August 15, 2009

This very lightweight tripod is a great value for the price. It is surprising sturdy when everything is tightened down and includes some nice added features like a carrying bag, two built-in levels, a bag hook, and a built-in handle. Another minor, but handy feature is that the camera\camcorder can be attached to the quick release mount without needing a screwdriver or coin since the screw head is shaped to be finger tightened.

I have paid more for lesser tripods and am very pleased with this one for my small and medium sized cameras\camcorders.

Highly recommended!

I got this tripod for a Nikon D90. It is very compact and fits easily in the bag that came with it so it is easy to carry around. The tripod is very sturdy and definitely does its job. The quick release mount feature is so convenient because I don't have to take the time to screw in the camera when it's picture time. Pretty simple to use, I recommend it!!

The product received was timely and in perfect condition. It is very reliable and light and sturdy. Has all sorts of features one needs for a camcorder and easy video recording. It is fully loaded in short.
Quick release plate in the tilting head, crank elevator with locking ring, sweet leg locks to its self leveling, gimbaled rubber feet. The tripod's legs brace to the center post and lock. Two spirit levels one on the the head and other at the point where the legs meet. A hook for your camera bag or a weight for extra stability. A built in carrying handle and a carrying case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great general all-purpose tripod, December 30, 2009

Got this tripod for my Nikon D90 w/18-105mm lens. Works great for what I need it for which is general amateur photography on flat and predictable surfaces: inside the house, on lawns, decks, walkways, etc. Provides a good combination of stabilty and height for everything I've needed it for.

While it's worked well for fixed photography, the pivoting is not smooth or steady enough to allow for the smooth panning you'd desire for taking video footage of something that moves. The legs of the tripod seem to be made of a decent quality of aluminmum and the unit is lightweight enough for easy transport (includes built-in handle and carrying case). Mounting fixture and "hardware" is made of rigid plastic so the entire unit is probably not suited for hardcore photography in professional conditions.

That said, the tripod is an excellent combination of fucntionality, quality and price. Would definitely recommend to amateur photographers and general home use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price - as expected, October 26, 2009

I was looking for a tripod that would allow me to tilt and pan smoothly for a reasonable price.

The tripod is both, light-weight and sturdy, thanks to its wide footprint.

It does not come with instructions, but it is easy to figure out how to set it up and how to control the pan and tilt smoothness. The handle is in effect a screw that, by turning it, allows to control the tightness of the tilt. The camera is screwed to the "quick release plate" from underneath. The quick release mechanism works very well: you just put the camera in position and it automatically latches on.

Pan and tilt are smooth, but I doubt this would work well with a heavy camera. My camera weighs about 20oz (or 500g), and it works perfectly for me.

I am giving it five stars because I got the product that I expected based on descriptions and reviews here on Amazon.

This tripod is more than I expected. I bought it for a fall color trip to New England (Vt, NH, Maine) and on my hikes to remote places I was grateful for it's light weight. It is easy to level and inspite of its light weight is quite sturdy. As an amateur photographer I met every need that I had.
