Just what I was looking for!
Not only a book about Doreen's life, beliefs and path but also one that shares many effective lightworker/healer techniques that have helped me. Techniques include working on one's own issues and cleaning one's own energy/chakras, centering oneself, the purpose of Creation and the Universe, work with angels, work with spirit guides, mediumship and spirit releasement, working with healing others and healing the earth. Doreen gives techniques on keeping your work pure and making sure you are aligned with Love and Divine Purpose. Doreen stresses the importance of being aware of your ego that may get in the way of your work as a lightworker or healer, and then also offers suggestions on how to overcome the voice of your ego. I cannot tell you how much more pure her teachings are to me only because I have been turned off by some books of those who teach spirituality and healing but whose teachings are tainted strongly with the writers' egos (i.e., religious bias, extreme-feminist opinions or just plain self-vanity). This book is for those who want to tap in their mystical powers for service to others(Love) and not for themselves(Ego). This book has taken away my lingering fears about the spirit world, tapping into my personal power and meditating more deeply because I learned about praying to angels and spirit guides for guidance and protection and to create Pure intentions and thoughts. For some time now, although I did not believe I was psychic, people, even total strangers, would confide in me and I found out I had knack for offering them unconditional love and advice. When I finally fully realized that I had such a gift I came to the knowledge that I wanted to be a healer. Although, I had already been on a path of self-discovery that included meditation, prayer and community service, I did not yet know how to go about the next steps until I found this book. Of course, this book is not an end in itself, and does not pretend to be. It will open doors for you to further your work, creativity and self-exploration. A wonderful "handbook" for those "first-timers" with the desire to serve humankind with their inherent gifts.

A wonderful guidebook for spiritually-minded healers!,

This review is from: The Lightworker's Way: Awakening Your Spirtual Power to Know and Heal (Paperback)
Dr. Doreen Virtue provides excellent information for those on a spiritual path in her book "The Lightworker's Way." We are able to learn more about ourselves and the spiritual realm by reading of the experiences Doreen had while awakening to her Divine life purpose. There is also a comprehensive guide to conducting spiritual healing sessions, and imperative information on healing your own life as an essential part of healing the world. As a clairaudient, I am able to hear the angels give me specific page numbers to flip to, and they always contain information that is beneficial to my current path. The angels have been having me use this book as a guide and learning tool for several months, and it had been highly beneficial for me. I recommend it to anyone who has an interest in healing themselves, other people, and the planet.

This review is from: The Lightworker's Way: Awakening Your Spirtual Power to Know and Heal (Paperback)
The first half of the book is Doreen's life story. It is very interesting. The second half of the book is about different healing modalities and exercises. The forgiveness exercises I found to be extremely helpful. It seemed that everytime I picked up this book, there was a message just for me in the words... It was so awesome-- like my guides were communicating to me through this book. Overall, it was an easy read and jammed packed with useful information.

What a wonderful book full of light and love,

This review is from: The Lightworker's Way: Awakening Your Spirtual Power to Know and Heal (Paperback)
Reading this book brought me to a wonderful place in my life. It allowed me to open my mind to a spiritual journey I should have taken many years ago. I knew of my gift for many years, but was not ready to go forward and share it with all those who wish to begin their journey. As an Angel Messenger/Psychic/Medium I have come to know how important it is to open your heart...this book gave me that stepping stone. It is written by Angels for Angels and I know you will not be disappointed when you read it. It changed my life...in such a wonderful and powerful way. Throught his book I also found that I am a healer and am now a Reiki 2 practitioner..soon to be a master.

This review is from: The Lightworker's Way: Awakening Your Spirtual Power to Know and Heal (Paperback)
I must say this book really surprised me with the amount of information on healing. Through the contents my understanding of Lightworkers has been greatly expanded. Doreen has tapped into the essence of our growth and relays this in a manner consistent with her own spiritual upbringing. Don't even consider whether you should read it or not, this is a definite! Enjoy!

A lot of good information,

This review is from: The Lightworker's Way: Awakening Your Spirtual Power to Know and Heal (Paperback)
This book is well written; Doreen Virtue had a substantial writing career before she wrote The Lightworker's Way. I would have liked giving it 5 stars at times, 2 or 3 at others, but ultimately decided 4 was right. I liked the information and the style, but it also left me feeling like she rushed through the important steps required to become a lightworker.
The book is divided into two parts. The first part is an autobiography, in which Doreen explains how she arrived at her level of awareness and mastery in metaphysics, as well as her technical and clinical qualifications and experience. She was raised in a Christian Science home, and led a life that included a good deal of substance abuse, overeating, and marital abuse and challenges. She had awareness of psychic abilities at a very early age, and brought them to the fore or tuned them out at various times. Eventually she embraced the life of a relationships and, ultimately, New Thought author and counselor. She became acquainted with A Course in Miracles, which became a major philosophical orientation, along with Christian Science, in her own belief system and practice. The second part of The Lightworker's Way is a series of chapters designed to facilitate lightworker practice. It has a lot of discussion about various techniques and methods she has used, and recommends to others. The end of the book has citations to source materials and other references, and that could be even more helpful than the preceding text for the seeker. I have several concerns with this book. First, it is very difficult to make the kinds of conceptual leaps she makes without a lot of study. She seems to assume that the average person has the ability to just hit the "On" button and find their psychic powers. It doesn't work that way for many people. Some are born with such strong natural powers of the psychic realm that they can immediately resort to them. For most, it takes years of work to develop these abilities. Another concern I have is the framework of A Course in Miracles is thrust forward very quickly and without sufficient groundwork. After all, ACIM recommends a year-long study program of individual lessons. It takes a long time to get to the place where "radical forgiveness" is seen as a viable way of living, not to mention that everything around us, including any and all illnesses, is an illusion. Again, it takes years of study to get to that kind of understanding, through intensive meditation, study of nondual teachings, and life experience. For better orientation to ACIM, go to the work itself, which is readily available, and also look at the very well written books of Marianne Williamson and Gary Renard. They will lay out more comprehensively what ACIM is saying. I know this is a long-winded review, but this book needs to be explained a bit. I'd recommend reading it, but keep these cautions in mind.

Light Work,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Lightworker's Way: Awakening Your Spirtual Power to Know and Heal (Paperback)
This book is about Light Work. Yes, This book does tell you about Doreen's early years as a Christian Scientist. However, I would not say that it promotes any religion. It promotes love and the readers desire to change their circumstances using Gods love to heal their lives. It offers readers the opportunity to learn how to embrace God as God embraces you. It also teaches the reader how to send healing energy to others and the earth via light work (prayers). Have and open mind and open heart and have a great day:) BLessings

Walking Your Spiritual Path,

This review is from: The Lightworker's Way: Awakening Your Spiritual Power to Know and Heal (Paperback)
This is a great book for those on a spiritual path. In the first half, Doreen tells you about her personal background and how she came to be where she is today. She tells you her experiences, fears, insecurities and how she began changing her belief system and began seeing differences. If you are currently on such a path, even if you are just beginning, and you've begun to experience things that "normal" people don't experience, you need to know that you are not alone and you are [probably] not nuts either.
Doreen was brought up as Christian Scientist, which some people frown upon as the "religion that does not believe in taking children to the doctor". This is NOT the case, and I learned a lot about the Christian Science belief in listening to her background. Doreen is a Christian, who believes in Jesus, the Virgin Mary, the angels and brings them into her healings. She does not disrespect other religions and has clients from diverse religious groups. I believe she said something like you have to find your own truth, on which I certainly concur. You may find your truth consists of parts of many religions along with a love in God and humanity. In the second half, Doreen gives some tips and techniques, such as Chakra clearing meditations, becoming more psychic, calling on the angels, etc. The book talks about how to recognize ego talking and silence it, how to differenciate between guidance from "Spirit" vs. "ego", how to strengthen your abilities to connect with Spirit, etc. I personally found the book very helpful in validating and confirming some things I have been experiencing over about the last 6/7 years, and especially during year 2006. Some of my experiences included a gentle nudging to avoid alcohol (even though I only drank 2 drinks once in a while), to avoid red meat, to avoid caffeine, (I don't smoke). I was already intuitively guided to do chakra connections, clearings, and to then ask Spirit to fill my heart with peace and love. I was intuitively guided to practive foregiveness. There are many other correlations I have found between my experiences and Doreen's. If I was limited to tell you one very strong message in this book for me, it would be that with God, there is no illness, no suffering, no pain. That is all an illusion that we choose to see/hear/feel. Now, I realize that may sound squirrley, but the more I believe, the more I see/hear/feel to validate it. Again, great book and especially helpful for the Lightworker/Healer on a spiritual path. If you are sincerely interested in 1) connecting with angels; and 2) furthering your spiritual path, you want to consider this book. Remember though, you must BELIEVE it, before you can SEE IT (or that certainly has been my experience and that of other writers). May 2007 Update: Saw Angel Lady at a conference in Manhattan. Her husband assisted her and both were excellent. He is more into Shamanism, and sees animal guides.

We Need Wonderful Doreen,
By
This review is from: The Lightworker's Way: Awakening Your Spiritual Power to Know and Heal (Paperback)
The wonderful thing about Doreen is that she validates our perceptions of the spiritual realm. We are surrounded by the material in so many forms: tv, news, consumerism, clothes, gyms, appliances. It's easy to lose sight of the spiritual journey, or to fear that we must be "nuts" if we feel, see or hear the presence of the divine. Doreen's passion for her own spiritual path and for helping others is so inspiring. And despite the intensity of her experience, she is so likeable and so normal! For this reason I just couldn't put the book down. To me it read like a suspenseful page turner. I have read several other of Doreen's books, but this one is by far my favorite. We could all use a daily visit with wonderful Doreen to keep us on track. This book and her others are a good place to start if you want to get in tune or stay in tune with your spiritual path.
