In this digital remastered version we are treated to the crystal clear, bell-like clarity of Steve Miller's vocals and instrumentals. There are great performances on this track with great drumming, organ, and bass. The vocals are unobtrusive and a bit atypical for Miller in that it treats the social issues of poverty and hunger, which seems a bit incongruent with the kind of slacker, surfer mentality of most of his tunes. I don't mean to be unkind here but his songs just seem out of sync with revolution, power-to-the-people, and other social issues. I am not opposed to such themes, I am merely pointing out the disparity. Despite this slight lyrical disharmony it is nevertheless a great song. I think Steve Miller's music is in a class of its own and doesn't need to conform to expectations of the era, either social or musical.

Steve Miller's music is simply the best. These 70's tunes still hold up today and sound better than ever. He was ahead of his time.
