5.0 out of 5 stars Masterfully written
I was so caught up in the novel and couldn't wait to read the next page. Very difficult to put down. You can feel what the Characters are feeling, and realizing that it really happened, with the exception of the fictional family, you can live the past thru their eyes and experience what people really experienced. Very moving. It tugs at the heart strings. I suggest...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice enough
It's nice to see the adventures of the Steed family coming along. I still don't think Lund is the best writer, but still, these are nice, soap operatic plots that blend around the beginnings of the Church. In this one, a little more organization goes into forming the Church and betrayal and romance torture the family.

It is pretty fun, I admit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow ! What accuracy ! History Comes to Life ., January 11, 1999

Emotions raged through me as I read the incredibly accurate writing of Lund . I felt like I was there with the mormons when they were driven from their homes by lawless mobs . How do you get the lump out of your throat after reading such an inspired book ? Read it ... Live it ... Love it !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, August 17, 2005
This review is from: Like a Fire Is Burning (Work and the Glory) (Hardcover)
These books were amazing! It's as if the author almost convinces you that you were there. I'm a little picky when it comes to books, but I can definately tell you that this is one that I feel in love with. There were nights when I'd stay up until 4 in the morning reading-- and that's as a teenager in high school! I completely recommend everyone to read this, for it's hard to find books that are written better.

Product was received in better condition than implied and got here right away. I love the "work and the Glory" series. It has facts with a point of view that allows you to see how life really would have been for these families. Can't wait to finish the series.

I love the Work and the Glory books!
I couldn't wait for the next volume to come out.
I love the fictional family portrayed
but even more how the author puts real Church
history into the story and makes it come alive.

I first read this series when I was a teenager, and now I am reading through them again. Wonderful series! I tried to read them with my 6 and 9 year old, but they didn't seem too interested. I would suggest for teens and up.

I read all of the books when they were first published years ago but decided I wanted to revisit them again. Decided to buy them in CD form for I love to listen to books as I drive or just relax. How wonderful to close your eyes and actually see yourself in the setting! If you have NOT read these books I highly reccomend. Not only do you come to love the Steed family but you also learn alot about LDS history. Enjoyment guaranteed! Can hardly wait until the third book comes out on CD!
