Book Description

January 16, 2009
The author of The Mouse that Roared and Whatever It Takes returns with yet another edge-of-your-seat thriller. Chaos ignites and hell's fury is unleashed in this battle of good versus evil . . . Besides sharing the problems of living in a deteriorating building, the thirteen tenants at 666 Cypress Avenue all have a very deep and bitter hatred towards one another. As temperatures rise in their South Bronx neighborhood, so does their frustration with the building's broken doors, malfunctioning elevator, rat infestation, and skyrocketing rent increases. To make matters worse, the blazing heat is also sending everyone's animosity to its boiling point. Then a new tenant arrives, taking up shelter in the last vacant apartment. Highly intelligent and extraordinarily beautiful, Raven Thorn blows in like a much-needed summer breeze. Unleashing her charisma, she slowly gains the trust and admiration of all the tenants except one. Crystal Bright, a crack-addicted young woman, looks like the poster child for everything that's wrong with society; but beneath her addiction lies a heart of gold and a very intelligent mind. Sensing a darker and much more sinister side to Raven, Crystal realizes that she must act fast before a fuse is lit that could ignite a bloodbath between the fragile building's hostile tenants. Dwayne Murray Sr. resides in New York City, where he was born and raised. An electrician by trade, the author walks a fine line on the job and gets a thrill bringing that same sense of heart-pounding danger to his action-packed novels.

About the Author

Could a Fiction Author Be on the Verge of a Three-Peat? Fictional Writer Has Followed His Own Advice to Present a Horrific Thriller That Has the Capacity to Produce Chatter in the Literary World! New York, NY (BlackNews.com) - A Three-peat is a known phenomenon in the world of sports, but could it also be assigned to authors in the realm of fictional writing? Can an author's first three novels reach the peak of having well created characters, well planned plots, along with climatic conclusions? Author Dwayne Murray, Sr., expresses, "It's important to me as a writer to give loyal readers just a little more than what they read in my previous novels. I never want to be guilty of 'short-changing' readers seeking good, thought provoking, and attention sustaining thrillers." Like A Good Neighbor (ISBN: 0976985525 - $ 14.95) is Murray's third self-published novel about a woman unfortunately slammed by life's most tragic events, which adversely compels her to find comfort in relocating and destroying the lives of everyone in her path. To see others happy in their lives is like a rotting disease to her because she detests happiness, intimacy, togetherness, and unconditional love. A knock-out beauty she is but she possess a baleful heart that is filled with hatred. But to her dismay the universe created an opposite to every soul bestowed with personal characteristics. Where there's darkness, there's light; where there's hate, there's love; and where there's war, there's peace. Murray has written a thriller that depicts a battle between good and evil. Like A Good Neighbor reveals just how people are so self-centered, easily manipulated, and would stop at nothing to bandage their wounded egos. Readers will find themselves drawn into each and every character as their lives hang in the balance. Murray promises readers, "Like A Good Neighbor will be a thriller many of you will find hard to put down even for a second!" From the self-published author who brought you The Mouse That Roared (ISBN: 0976985500 - $13.95) and the 2007 USA Best Book Award Finalist for Whatever It Takes (ISBN: 0976985519 - $13.95) returns with his third novel that guarantees to keep readers guessing, anticipating, and eagerly turning page after page. While readers sit on the edge of their seats they will ponder which will prevail in the end: Good or Evil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like a Good Neighbor...Raven Thorn is there!! 5 *****'s!, August 14, 2009

This review is from: Like A Good Neighbor (Perfect Paperback)
666 Cypress Avenue in the Bronx New York is the setting for this novel, "Like A Good Neighbor". This apartment building is in need of major repairs and the tenants are just as fed up with the dilapidated, run down building as they are with each other!!! An new tenant, the mysterious, sexy Raven Thorn arrives and things really start to get interesting!

666 Cypress Avenue has a wild variety of tenants that occupy the apartments. There's old Miss Cane and drug dealing Tyrone, who can't stand each other. Lawyer Tanya and her husband Teddy; Melinda the overwieght unemployed chick; Keisha the stuck up social service case worker; Dawn, her handicaped son Jake and her boyfriend Todd; handicapped mean spirited Ralph Jones and his daughter Patricia; Ida and Yasir Muhammed; Betty Wingo and her nerdy son Dexter; Mia Brown and her wanna be thug son Freddy; bitter, heartbroken, Jeff and his son Donald; Hispanic police officer Eddie; recovering crackhead Crystal Bright and of course Raven Thorn, the super friendly new tenant, who is on a mission to change the lives of those at 666 Cypress Ave forever!!!

Upon Raven's arrival she tries to get super friendly with all the tenants, only Crystal shows little to no interest in Raven's offers of friendship; Crystal detects something sinister within Raven. Too bad the rest of the tenants have fallen under Raven's spell....let's hope they can wake up before it's too late, because Raven is no ordinary lady, as they will soon find out!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars She Devil, July 20, 2009

This review is from: Like A Good Neighbor (Perfect Paperback)
The living conditions at 666 Cyprus Avenue are horrible. The thirteen tenants who reside in this building have to endure rats as big as cats, a broken elevator and broken doors. In addition, they aren't friendly toward each other and some are battling their own personal demons.

Several years ago, drop-dead gorgeous Raven Thorn suffers a tragic loss and she loses all faith in God and mankind. On a mission, she travels from city to city and country to country with a diabolical plan, she will stop at nothing until her plan is accomplished. Raven becomes a new tenant at 666 Cyprus Avenue and everyone is hypnotized by her beauty and charm, except for Crystal, a young crack addict. Crystal feels an evil presence whenever she is around Raven.

LIKE A GOOD NEIGHBOR is a psychological thriller of spellbinding proportions. The reader is drawn into Raven's skillful manipulations and watches her wicked plan unfold. The scenes are crystal-clear and the characterization is intense and plausible. It was as if I was under a spell to get to the end of LIKE A GOOD NEIGHBOR, overflowing with drama, bloodshed, and pure evil.

5.0 out of 5 stars AAMBC Book Reviews, July 3, 2009
This review is from: Like A Good Neighbor (Perfect Paperback)
This novel was a wow factor on so many levels that you can not believe the rush that you get from this book. It's powerful and gripping and Dwayne S Murray paints a picture that you can see as clear as day. This book started off so good that I had to take it from my husband who doesn't even read, the beginning is so spell binding that you are so eager to find out why all this stuff is happening. You get a roller coaster into his books, it may be long but every detail in it paves the way to the gripping end. I can not wait to get more from this author!
