This review is from: Like Hollywood (Audio CD)
Every album Marlee MacLeod has released ("Vertigo"-1997, "There We Are"-2000 and "Like Hollywood"-2002) is a gem and it's obvious that her songwriting skills, arrangements and lyricism deepen with each album. Her talent is like a growing tree. As she expands further into the sky, she's not forgetting that she's also firmly grounded and needs to grow her roots, too. Her musicality is everchanging in each release - on this album I hear more accompanying and background singers than I've heard on the other 2. It's a nice thickening of the sound. Coversely, but also a good thing, there are some sounds on this album that echo each of the previous albums without being repetitive, I believe this makes her new albums friendly and familiar. I personally can hear how some of her sound has evolved from the previous album and I always find that exciting when looking at art in general; an evolution of the artist's process - it reveals the human aspect of the art creating process. I heavily recommend this album as well as the other 2.

p.s. there is one more Marlee MacLeod album I did not know about at the time of this review - "Drive Too Fast" released in 1993. I'll review that eventually.
