I love Destiny's Child and have been following them since the beginning. I buy all of their singles, including the solo ones. So when I saw this in stores, I had to buy it. I'm so glad that Beyonce and Kelly are continuing to release singles, because most other artists aren't lately and it's quite sad. The physical CD single is almost extinct.Anyways, I love the original song. It's great to hear Kelly again. Her voice has improved and it is a lot smoother. She has definitely worked on her craft in the past few years and I can't wait until her album comes out. Hopefully, she'll finally receive the sales and recognition she deserves from the consumers and the label. The original version of the song is not included. Here is the correct tracklisting for this maxi-single: Like This 1. DJ Speedy Remix Edit (Featuring Sean P.) 2. Redline Radio Remix 3. ATM Remix 4. DJ Escape & Tony Coluccio Radio Remix 5. Karmatronics Radio Remix I didn't really care for the last remix. It was a bit too repetitive for my tastes. As for all the other remixes, I loved them, and that's saying a lot because I usually don't like club/house mixes. Track 1 has a sort of crunk & B feel to it. Tracks 2, 4 and 5 are more dance/club oriented remixes and track 3 is a bit middle-eastern tinged. I enjoyed it the most out of all of them. Overall, this is a great maxi-single with some really good remixes of an already good song. I wish Kelly much success. Ms. Kelly ins stores July 3!

why bother even releasing a huge #1 dance hit with EDITS???,

So Kelly Rowland's #1 dance hit gets a CD-single release, and manages to give us less than 25 minutes of music with 5 mixes. Since record companies are opting not to release CD singles at ALL, why bother releasing this to disappoint collectors who are now going to have to--guess what? Go and download all the full length remixes. Having the peak hour anthematic club mix by DJ Escape as a mere 3 and a half minute version is nothing short of absurd. I'm not quite sure HOW record companies are making money anymore, because they are not supporting or promoting their artists or songs.

I was never a fan of her solo-ly, but I do agree that this song was a mild hit, but should've been bigger. The production was big and the lyrics were yet another girl-power-anthem! For some silly reason I never tire of those!Anyway, the guy/girl that voted a 1-star for this single; I don't blame Ya. I was there once too! Well, at one point, earlier this year I would've rated this a 2.2 or nothing more. I didn't like the beat and thought that the, "I told Ya I was gonna bump like this!" was stupid and childish. But back then I didn't really realize it's all in good fun and is supposed to be looked at so. Now I know better... Cover Art: B- Inside Art: ? Songwriting: C+ Vocals: C- to C Vocal Emotion: D- *Vocal Acrobatics*: D- Production: B Length: A- 4 stars. Sassy, commanding, authoritative, demanding, forefront, loud, in-your-face, ladies'-anthem, empowering, midtempo Overall: B-

Horse-Face from Destiny's Child attempts "sexy". Fails.,
By
This review is from: Like This (Audio CD)
Such is Beyonce's near omnipotence around MTV-land with the rate she knocks out singles it would be easy to forget she was ever in Destiny's Child. But while the third, pointless one has the sense to stay at home and count her money, here comes the OTHER, other "girl who's not Beyone," Kelly Rowland and, brace yourself folks - she's going for "cool" and "sexy" this time around - and quite magnificently doesn't achieve either. So, how DOES Kelly try for "sexy", then? Well, not content with shaking her body like a dog fresh from its bath, she also slurs her speech. You know, like about a million other stupid rappers who insist on doing things like that. So instead of saying, "Y'all didn't think that I could bump like this" (whatever that means), she now says "y'all didn't think that I could bump like theeeeeeeeze." FOR NO REASON AT ALL. You know, I remember some of those horrific Destiny's Child songs, and not once did she speak like that. So why, then, has she adopted this strange way of speaking? Ah, that'll be the same reason she's got Eve rapping in this song as well - to try and be "cool". It takes more than a copied, fake accent and a phoned-in rap from Eve to make you cool, Kelly. Oh, and word of advice - if you ARE trying to look sexy in your new video, it's not a good idea to stand next to the smokin' hot Eve, who makes you look about as appealing as being infected with AIDS. All in all? Another boring, by the book slice of R&B dross from a dull artist desperate to escape her former band mate's enormous shadow, but lacking the songs, the stage presence and the looks to do it. Why the long face, Kelly? Guess we know now.. The_Curmudgeon_Hates_You@yahoo.co.uk |
