Surprisingly Fun!,
This review is from: Like Wow [Single] (Audio CD)
When I heard a Carter girl was coming out with an album and it was called "Like Wow" - the former Valley Girl in me said "Like, Yikes!" but then I heard it...Like Wow is aptly titled. The title song is fun and gets you moving. Its beat is great and it's easy to sing along to. True, the 2nd song is equally as good - a love song co-written by Leslies big bro Nick. As a mom of two and a die hard BSB fan, I really am finding the music of Aaron, Leslie and Nick (with the BSB) really refreshing and fun.

Great CD,

"Like, Wow!" - I didn't really care much about Leslie Carter until I went to Aaron Carter's concert and saw her there. "Like, Wow!" was the only good song I heard her sing. A few days later, I ran into the store looking for the "Like, Wow!" single and found it. There was one last copy. I bought it and it was great. The "Like, Wow!" CD I bought included a free Leslie Carter sticker inside."True" - I must admit that when I first bought this single and heard True, it wasn't as good as I thought. I'm not one for Teeny-bopper love songs, and not only does this sound like a Teeny-bopper love song, it was co-written hy the biggest teeny-bopper of all...Nick Carter! I like the Spice Girls and am pure Anti BSB to the core. And when she says "but my friends tell me I love you", I could never imagine my friends coming up to me and saying "you love her". That's so unrealistic. OVERALL- This CD is really good. If you never heard it before, but are a fan of aaron carter, you should buy this single. Buy it for "Like, Wow!". I'm glad I got this because I'm not going to get her full album because all her songs except "Like, Wow!" are bad.

"True" sounds like her little brother...,

This review is from: Like Wow [Single] (Audio CD)
I was sure that Leslie would be a short-lived pop "diva", and my assumption may be correct. "Like, Wow" was actually pretty good. Her voice is very pretty in this song, and despite the horrendously flaky title, it's fun to listen to. But as for "True"...it's just terrible. The lyrics are shallow ("my friends tell me I love you" what's up with that??) , she sings it mechanically, and her voice sounds awful! She sounds like Aaron did when he started, which is like a chipmunk. "True" was unbearable, I couldn't even listen to it the whole way through. It's because of "True"'s god-awfulness that I gave this three stars. I don't know why her voice sounded better in "Like, Wow" than in "True", but I'm seeing reasons as to why she hasn't become as popular as her brothers.

A fun song for a fun teenager!,

I've been a fan of Leslie Carter for a while now [since 1998] and this is her first official release. "Like Wow" is a really fun, catchy song for a teenager who likes to have a good time. I think more songs should be written with an upbeat and positive theme like this one.The B Side, "True" is written by her brother Nick Carter. This song shows of Leslie's 'true' singing talent, although it's not as catchy as "Like Wow". "Like Wow" and "True" just show how much fun this girl is having..she's a 14-year-old girl who's having the time of her life doing what she loves to do. Nick or no Nick, she'd still be doing this.

And you thought Nick was bad...,
By Kat (AZ) - See all my reviews

Aaron's jammin' and Nick's pretty good for a prepubescent boy. How about singin' sistah Leslie? Let's just say that the singing gene doesn't run through the females of the Carter family. The title "Like Wow" doesn't plead to be taken seriously. It's just another sugared-up pop song desperate to go mainstream. Her voice sounds much like her brother, Aaron- only whinier. She sings surprisingly worse than Britney Spears and it is obvious that she is just as digitally manipulated as the Pop Princess. "It's True" was better than "Like Wow," but if you're trying to find meaning in those songs, you won't find it. You won't even come close to understanding them; it might be Leslie's low moans or the lyrics themselves. "It's True" was well produced. The music was addicting. It's just too bad that you could hear Leslie.

Leslie Carter Is A Great Performer,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Like Wow [Single] (Audio CD)
I've been a Leslie fan for a couple of years. I'm sick of hearing that she can't sing, and all that other [stuff]. Her fans have waited for about three years for her album to come out. But it didn't. It's because of all those critics out there who made fun of her and called her fat. And a little fact.... Leslie got "discovered" if that's what you want to call it by herself. Billy Chapin heard her sing when her family moved to LA, and he helped her get a record deal with Dreamworks. That was the only mistake in her career - signing with Dreamworks. They're so superficial, they dropped her because she isn't a size 0. So what if she is perfectly normal for her age? I think she's pretty, and unique. Her music is just as good as anybody else's. Britney sounds like she's singing through her nose.... But her body makes up for that, right? It's things like that that have gotten Leslie dropped. It's a win - win situation in the music business. Britney example again, people think she dresses too provacatively and sets a bad example.... Funny thing is, that's how she atracts all her fans. Don't hate Leslie because she's a Backstreet Boy or Aaron Carter's sister. Give her a chance by thinking of Leslie as an individual, like she's the only famous Carter. If you don't like her, that's your problem, just don't diss her because of her family. Leslie can sing AND dance, which is more than I cansay for some other "Famous Pop Stars."

Like...Wow?!,

Okay first, who comes out with a song called Like Wow. Sorry that just gets to me. Like Wow. It is actually a catchy song, but it is REALLY cheezy, I recommend it for pre teens who loved Aaron before his voice changed. I think that she can actually sing but it doesn't show it in the lower range (She sounds like Aaron) If you don't listin to the words or anything and just sing the 'It's like woooow!' then you'll be okay.

Okay, I'll admit, I started liking Leslie because she was in the Carter family, but she is great. I love my cd single. Leslie's single is always in my cd player!! Like wow is such a wonderful song, and True is a beautiful song, but not sappy like most love songs. Overall, perfect!!!

On the Way to 'Wow',
By Amy (Ind.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Like Wow [Single] (Audio CD)
Leslie Carter has a promising career ahead. 'Like,Wow' is an upbeat and catchy tune suitable for young children and teens. It's refreshing to see a young girl who simply shows off her talent and not her sexuality. Which one might like to know how a female could have any at fourteen years of age. But the song doesn't showcase this young woman's maxium ability. That will be left to hear in the second song 'True' another song fit for younger listeners. The teen does have a delightful voice. Whether there's some magical in the Carter Family or not-there is a possibilty that the female Carter could make some magic of her own with time and maturity.

Like Wow is like, not that bad,

As far as this kind of teen pop stuff goes, this CD is pretty good. If you can just forget her last name and listen to it for what it is, you will find it is better than most of its genre. Give the girl a chance. This is promising.
