the real sh#t,

This review is from: Likwidation (Audio CD)
If anyone knows about what hip hop was like when it started and how it is to flow battles on stage, graf and beat box. You wouldn't give this a bad rating. Otherwise, listen to your new sh#t. This album is tight all the way through. They flow perfectly together and their style had developed up to here. The production is tight and theres a lot of tracks. The rhymes are funny and serious at the same time, this is more about 'fun' like real hip hop was about and this carried on. I did prefer '21 & under', but this is still tight and they didn't sell out like some other atists would by the 2nd album. But i didn't really like the album after this though. If you like and know what real hip hop is and don't have this, make sure you get it!! Later!

Rough N Rugged,

The 3rd addition to the liks library and hopefully not the last because the liks are hittin prime. This is by far their best album with beats that make you reminisce of how it was done on "only when I'm drunk". If you want rough flows and bumpin beats check out "Off the wall", "Awww sh*t", and "Hip Hop Drunkies", the best tracks on the album. If you liked the previous albums then you'll like this one for sure, the liks bring the same rough N rugged style from their previous albums and we're blessed with a few extra guests who fit in nicely.

R Dodin of Southern California gives huge props to Tha Liks. These cats, along with Xzibit are the best MCs out right now, not only on the west coast but worldwide. Buy this album, and every other Likwit Clik release that ever has or ever will come out. The beats and vocalism kick the competition's a**, it bumps, it's wild, its crazy cool, buy, listen, support, listen, listen, listen.

Perfect hommage to OE and Phillies.
Its just classic. This was the back-up CD for after the girls were done complaining to get us to play some Monica or Brandy, and they were finally tipsy, then this CD came on. Great lyrical performances from the West. On this album, and all their albums, the Liks rapped like they loved to do it. They were having fun doin it. And you can hear it through the speakers. Perfect party music. Its a little dated now, but full of great samples for today's DJs/producers. A great example of what Hip Hop is supposed to be.

classic party album,

I gave this album a perfect score because I felt that it had to be judged within its genre: party music, and in that sense it really is perfect. This isn't "conscious" or political hip-hop, but the beats are ridiculously hot, the lyrics are fun and the emcees mesh perfectly. As a party album this is right up there with some of Redman's best work (Tash in particular has a braggadocious style reminiscent of Redman, and they definitely do here for the 40 what Reggie Noble did for the blunt). This represents some of the best that the West Coast has to offer, and it is the perfect album to crack a 40 to.

If you like to cruise with bangin music, this is the album to buy. Especially if you live in the West Coast. People, what the ****, buy this album. i went to see The Alkoholiks perform when they released "Likwidation", Hip-Hop fans is very limited here in Whittier, Cali. And even though they was bangin, the crowd wasn't. You need to know them, this is Hip-Hop at it's best, especially from the west, Big ups to the Likwit Crew, Defari, Phil Da Agony and Xzibit.

The "lics" are the most under rated group out on wax. Niggas need to stop sleepin and start peepin. I agree with the skit on the album "they the tightest niggas on the WEST COAST". If ya'll out there listinging, keep those liquid lyrics flowin. Keep it real this is Low Down from GARDENA, CALIFORNIA!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Liks bring the fun back into hip-hop...,

Hip-hop has turned into a thugged-out gangsta party. Seemingly each new rapper coming out tries to outdue the next with gansta tales (which most fans don't believe anyways). The Liks are a breath of fresh air to the rap genre as they are just about having fun. The three emcess, J-Ro, Tash, and E-Swift share the mic, and their chemistry is undeniable. Obviously from the title of their name The Alkaholiks talk a lot about alcohol, but their album is not a promotion for it. They are just 3 guys having fun on the mic and are not afraid to admit they like to party. It's this type of freeness to their music that makes it so enjoyable to listen to. They can make party songs or flat out kick some of the funniest raps you've ever heard without sacrificing any credibility or selling out like other rappers. This album isn't out to change the game or become the next instant classic like an "Illmatic". But it deserves respect because its an enjoyable album to listen to anytime you pop it in you CD player. Xzibit is a guest on "Killin' It" and he does just that. Keith Murray's verse on "Off the Wall" was a little disappointing as everyone expects more from the lyrical lexicon. "Hip Hop Drunkies" with Ol' Dirty is hilarious and definitely a high point of the album. "Captain Hook" is a very creative song as the Liks take you on a story as they search for an emcee who is biting everyone's style: from E-40's verbage, Bone's style, to WC's flow, they go on a cross-country search looking for this fake emcee as he continually keeps biting other artists. The Alkaholics are very underrated lyricists and throughout this album you'll find some extremely funny verses that these guys concoct. Check this one out if you want something new to listen to, or are just tired of how hardcore every rapper tries to be today. |
