Product Description

Color: Root Beer

The Lil Joey is a newborn diaper designed to fit from approximately 4-12lbs.  Kanga Care brand cloth diapers are the ORIGINAL and ONLY cloth diapers uniquely designed with the patented leak protection technology of dual inner gussets. The inside of each diaper is designed with 2 gentle inner gussets, a double barrier that channels each leg. There is no chance of escape for even the messiest of messes! The Lil Joey takes special care with a snap down front for sensitive cord care during those first precious days.  The Lil Joey is the simplest of diaper systems on the market for a newborn baby.  The internal soaker is 4 layers of thirsty microfiber that have been permanently sewn into the core of the diaper, no stuffing required.  The Lil Joey is waterproof and requires no cover. Kanga Care diapers and accessories are also biodegradable! When composted they will biodegrade in 4-5 years. In 2008 Kanga Care started using a biodegradable TPU waterproof material. Biodegradable TPU is solvent-free polyester fabric that has been laminated with a thermoplastic polyurethane using a heat bonding process, not chemicals. This process is low in toxicity and is better for the natural environment then traditional PUL. One of the most important decisions new parents face, just got easier. All Kanga Care products gave been lovingly designed and invented by a mother in Colorado and distributed world wide out of Golden, Colorado. WASH & CARE: 1. Cold Rinse, no detergent. 2. Hot Wash/Cold Rinse with the suggested amount of detergent (see www.kanga-care.com for full list of recommended detergents). Tumble dry low or lay flat to dry. Do not use bleach. Do not use fabric softeners or dryer sheets. Do not soak for long periods of time. Do not soak diapers in detergent or any laundry additives for removing stains, odor or buildup. If staining, odor or buildup occurs, visit www.kanga-care.com for more detailed care information and a list of recommended laundry detergents.

I purchased one set of these along with several other types of diapers (prefolds, fuzzibuns, oh katy, gdiapers) before my daughter was born. She's been here about a week and these are by far my favorite diapers to use so far. She was 7lbs.9oz. when we left the hospital and these fit her the best. She is able to wear them through the night without a diaper change and we have not had a leak happen yet. Love that you can snap down the front to protect the cord stump. I ended up buying 2 more sets of these after seeing how well they worked. I've been told that they can be worn up to 4 mos. old, but not sure how true that is. Although they are adjustable, the rise is short, so I don't know if it would work for a larger baby. Also, as with most AIO diapers, these take a long time to dry. I've learned that having them sit in the sun for a few hours first before finishing them off in the dryer really helps. If you don't live in a sunny area, hang them on a rack overnight and then finish them off in the dryer in the morning. Overall, I would highly recommend.

We got these knowing that it would be slightly frivolous to pay so much for something that would only fit for a few months (they came in a sampler set with some one-size diapers). I have to say, though, I'm glad we did. First off, they are the most adorable tiny diapers you'll ever see. Second, the double gusset - even the tiny one - really does do an impressive job at catching poops. Third, it is nice to have a smaller option to put under tiny-sized baby clothes, which can look/fit a little ridiculous over one-size diapers.

We have 10 of these that we use in combination with our regular stash of Rumparooz one-size diapers. Our gigantic daughter was born at 9 lbs 3oz and weighs 14 lbs at 2 months, so she could wear one-sized diapers right away, and has almost grown out of these at 2 months. From the time she was about 10 lbs, if she peed more than once in them, the diaper would be saturated and leak, so we have used them mostly just at times when we know she'll be changed again soon.

I give them 5 stars because they're great for what they are: newborn sized diapers. If you're really looking to stretch your cloth-diapering dollar to its maximum usefulness, you'll probably want to look elsewhere. But if you want something that will fit even a tiny baby right away, AND will look so darn cute in newborn pictures, this is the diaper for you.

The worked great for our 6 lb baby. The fit well and absorb well. We have to use our dryer on extra low to dry these as it is generally to cool and humid here to line dry diaper. These were used when I purchased them but in fantastic shape and continue to work well. My one and only complaint is they can get a little warm and humid inside if you don't catch him/her right after they pee. Other than that the fabric, colors and snaps are all great and continue to impress. There is a good used market for these so you can easily recoop at least half of what you paid for them new.

These cloth diapers are so simple to use and they keep our baby dry all night. They're just like disposables: no inserts to deal with. They're perfect for babysitters, grandparents & resistant dads. We will absolutely buy this brand again. It feels like high quality & is comfortable for our little bundle!

These diapers are very well and thoughtfully made. I absolutely love how they fit and how they do the job. For those who are saying they leak - you need to wash them a couple of times prior to using, since brand new cotton requires several washings to remove natural plant oils before it will be absorbent. Sprinkle a few drops of water on your new diaper and you'll see how they will bead up on the surface instead of being absorbed. It's also important to use an appropriate detergent without any fabric softeners. The more you're going to wash them the more absorbent they'll become!
Plus always double check if the elastic around waist and legs fits tight - It's the most important thing that prevents leakage and 'blowouts'.

I was so excited about these adorable diapers but every time I tried putting them on my baby, they leaked. The first time I thought it may have been because she was too small when she was a couple weeks old, so I waited another week or two and tried again. I repeated this several times, intent on using these diapers but they always leaked -- and she was tiny so didn't pee a whole lot! I've been using disposables since but am thinking of trying another system...

I purchased these for my 2nd baby after having used one RaR pocket on my toddler. At first, I had nothing but leaks, leaks, leaks. I contacted customer service and they gave me a link to explain fit. The example is using one of their pockets and a baby doll, but the principles were the same. Since I watched the fit video, no more leaks, and I am loving these. My daughter (3 weeks, probably just over 9 lbs now) even napped in one yesterday without incident. I only wish I'd seen the video on fit sooner; would have saved headache and disposables! (The video's at the bottom of this page: [...]

They are extremely cute and very soft. The umbilical snap-down was also helpful before her stump came off. It can be tough to get the diaper on correctly (per the video) but I'm a happy customer.
