I was give Volume 2 and I thought it was good. I decided to go see how Volume 3 was. I loved it! In my opinion even better then the Volume 2! It has a wide variety of songs that all sound great. i loved Sarah's "Black and White". It's amazing!

Lilith Fair '98 was an incredible expreince. The two new volumes to the Lilith Fair albums are good, but #3 is the best. The tracks are all very good. Sarah McLachlan ("Black & White") is incredible, the Indigo Girls ("Get Out The Map") are rockin', as is Emmylou Harris ("Deeper Well"). I definatly recommend this to anyone who loves live music better than the studio efforts. Luscious Jackson's "Naked Eye" is a good example. Personally I'm not fond of them, but their contribution is outstanding. Bye this volume if you bye any of them. Its the BEST!!!!

I demand some reasonable effort by producers to do a decent job of recording music, and ARISTA seems, in general, to be subpar on most of their releases. However, this seems to be worse than their average. While they can blame it on this being a live album -- it's a poor excuse. If you have any audiophile tendencies, don't buy this CD -- although the music is reasonably good, the shabby job of recording/transferring to CD format will leave you disappointed and wanting your money back.

While all of the songs on this record are outstanding and fun to hear live, Liz Phair's "Never Said" is a radio classic. Her first real recognition came from this song which helped make her an indie princess. An awesome buy.

I got this CD last night and have listened to it 6 times since, it is that good!!!! Luka is a depressingly excellent song, and Get Out The Map is cute and country-ish. It is so ecclectic and broad. My favorite songs are probably Luka, Get Out the Map, Naked Eye, and Never Said. If you are a fan of female music, buy this, you won't be dissapointed!

I ordered both CDs by Amazon.com. I got Vol.2 first and thought is was a good CD. Two days later i got Vol.3 and i was so much more impressed. This CD i listen to straight through (i only skip over the first track), Vol.2 I skip more often. My fave track (besides the forever wonderful Sarah McLachlan's "Black and White") is K's Choice "Not an Addict". That song is amazing. The Liz Phair and Suzanne Vega tracks are really cool too! If you were gonna choose just one of the volumes to buy(not including the first double CD, which was amazing too) I would get Vol.3, it is the overall best choice!

I finally got a chance to listen to the sound samples and all I have to say is "wow!" The Indigo Girls' "Get Out the Map" was a highlight for me-love that song. And I love that Sarah put on one that isn't going to be on her live album. All the other artists have great tracks, especially Suzanne Vega and Chantal. Keep it up Lilith! See you this summer!

Fabulous Lilith Women,

I don't really know why people prefer Vol 2 over Vol 3 of the Lilith CDs. Vol 3 is even more fabulous in terms of variety and overall sound. Right from the first groovy "Soul Record" & "Naked Eye", to the wry humour of "Never Said" and "Onion Girl", on to the candy sweet "Kiss Me", to William Orbit-inspired "Black & White", to the ultra-smooth "Underneath A Red Moon", on to the moody rock of "Not An Addict" to the country fun of "Get Out the Map", on to the simplicity of "Luka" "Little Black Girl" and "Surrounded", and finally to the bluesy "Deeper Well" and "Spit of Love"...(taking a deep breath)..this record, from top to bottom, is simply DIVINE !Don't just listen to the music samples above. They don't do justice to the actual crisp clarity of this record. Those who enjoy REAL music, go ahead and buy this, you won't regret it.

Can't wait for Lilith Fair 2010,

Unless you've been living under a rock, any Lilith Fair fan by now has heard the news that after an 11 year lay-off, Lilith Fair is returning next summer. Long, long overdue in my book. I was browsing through my CD collection the other day and fell upon this collection, which I hadn't listened to in years, so I immediately had to listen to it.
"Lilith Fair: A Celebration of Women in Music - Volume 3" (14 tracks; 61 min.) is one of two seperate volums released in 1999 from the 1998 Lilith Fair summer tour. The highlights on this collection are many: Luscious Jackson's boisterous "Naked Eye", Liz Phair's biting "Never Said", Sixpence None the Richer's gentle but irresistable "Kiss Me", Suzanne Vega's sweet "Luka", and Sarah Mclachlan's "Black and White", just to name those. But THE stand-out track on here is from K's Choice, a Belgian band with Sarah Bettens on vocals, bringing here a superb version of their breakout "Not An Addict", wow, it takes my breath away listening to it again after all these years. Also special mention for Emmylou Harris' "Deep Well", an epic track with superb guitar playing. Incidentally, Lilith Fair Volume 3 is by far the better collection, when compared to Volume 2. I attended all three festivals (1997-1999), and took my then 8 year old daughter to the 1998 festival at Riverbend here in Cincinnati, what a fabulous and fun experience that was (her first 'real' concert ever). I personally cannot wait for the return of Lilith Fair in 2010. Sarah Mclachlan will of course headline, but other names already announced are very intruiging and appealing as well, such as Metric, Tegan & Sara, and Chairlift, just to name those. Meanwhile, "Volume 3" is a nice memento from the 1998 festival and a great coellction/celebration of "women in music".

I have a problem with words... they never seem to represent what I what I want them to say... there is so much to say. Sarah's Black and White version is faster than I like it... album always seems best for that... byt Get out the Map... just amazing! And Rebekah's Little Black Girl is soulful and beautiful... another highlight is when Chantal Kreviazuk sings Surrounded, a truly wonderful song. Anybody who enjoys Lilith Fair, or females artists, will love this CD.
