4.0 out of 5 stars Width specification July 12, 2008
By Len
Amazon Verified Purchase
Since the product spec only shows length, this post is to share the width, which is 1 1/8". I haven't set up my planting beds yet, so don't have performance feedback to share.

Further detail January 2, 2009 - I set up my planting beds a few months ago, wrapping the tape around the circumference of each. The tape holds relatively rigid form as it unwinds, making it easy to apply to the beds without sticking to itself or you. Now in January, it appears the winter cold and wet loosens the tape's adhesion to the wooden bed frame, and will need to be pressed down in the spring.

Further detail April 7, 2009 - The tape has peeled away from my wooden planting beds in large chunks. Grit and soil has gotten underneath the adhesive side causing the tape to droop off the beds. It will need to be re-laid for the growing season.

For organic gardening, Copper Slug and Snail Tape is THE BEST product for keeping slugs off your plants without having to kill them. After all, it's not their fault they're slugs. And all the other products for slug prevention are toxic to the environment, other bugs and deadly to animals. You can wrap it around the planter or a collar of some sort around the plant base (a cat food can w/ the bottom cut off is great). You just have to make sure there is not a blade of grass or dirt splashing up on the collar that the slugs can use as a bridge. Even after it is corroded or dull, is still works. I was told that in emits a tiny electric shock to the slugs. Obviously not harmful. I have been using it for years and have never found a dead slug.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works?! July 22, 2008
This product works at keeping the snails from my container garden. I had researched non-toxic ways to prevent the little boogers from attacking my vegetables and copper tape was listed as the way to go. I tried it, wrapping each pot and from then on - no more snail damage. It worked so well, I ordered more tape and now have everything in my garden wrapped. It looks quite decorative too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great metal craft tape, too! March 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I found this product while looking for copper-colored foil tape for a metal-working project my son was doing in school. He needed something at least 1" wide and what the craft stores carry is mainly only 1/4" wide. In desperation, I Googled "Copper Tape", and up popped this product! I had never heard of copper tape being used to keep slugs out, but as I read the description of the product, I realized that this product would EXACTLY meet our needs...AND it is very reasonably priced (especially compared to what I had been looking at!). I ordered a roll and my son was able to finish his project. The adhesive is quite strong and holds well...there is a little bit of a trick to working with it without tearing the foil, but the learning process is part of the project!

5.0 out of 5 stars Protects my fruit trees March 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
Wrapped trunks protect my apples and plums from the brown snail, which is epidemic in Southern California. Will last about a year, then, between tree growth, rain and wear, will have to be rewrapped. I actually like that its not as permanent as say, copper metal bands, that may cut into the tree if not monitored. The tape will crack and allow the tree to grow. Some brave snails will still cross it but the fruit damage has been greatly reduced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic for container gardening! August 3, 2011

The only problem with this tape is I keep running out of it. It's perfection for keeping snails and slugs out of planter pots. Make sure to wear gloves when you use it, as the edges of it can cut you -- ouch! It's worse than a paper cut. But you ought to be wearing gloves when gardening anyway. The finished look up close is not polished -- kind of rough looking -- but from afar it looks gorgeous. Like my pots are all dressed up! The price here is better than at the local store; otherwise I'd buy it there. Here's a tip: when you get close to using up a roll, tape around the cardboard circle that's left, as well as the plastic part of the packaging, and use those as snail barriers too! I put those around small plants in my flower beds where taping by itself isn't practical. Thanks for saving my plants!

No snails at all in garden. Great. But, only lasted 6 months. If only it were thicker, then it would last.....

Easy to put on and I haven't found a slug in my garden since! Before putting on the tape I was removing at least 10 slugs a day, so I'm glad the problem has been taken care of!
