For organic gardening, Copper Slug and Snail Tape is THE BEST product for keeping slugs off your plants without having to kill them.

I put the copper tape around the top of each of my planters, and took the beer away.

Since the product spec only shows length, this post is to share the width, which is 1 1/8". I haven't set up my planting beds yet, so don't have performance feedback to share.

Further detail January 2, 2009 - I set up my planting beds a few months ago, wrapping the tape around the circumference of each. The tape holds relatively rigid form as it unwinds, making it easy to apply to the beds without sticking to itself or you. Now in January, it appears the winter cold and wet loosens the tape's adhesion to the wooden bed frame, and will need to be pressed down in the spring.

Further detail April 7, 2009 - The tape has peeled away from my wooden planting beds in large chunks. Grit and soil has gotten underneath the adhesive side causing the tape to droop off the beds. It will need to be re-laid for the growing season.

This product works at keeping the snails from my container garden. I had researched non-toxic ways to prevent the little boogers from attacking my vegetables and copper tape was listed as the way to go. I tried it, wrapping each pot and from then on - no more snail damage. It worked so well, I ordered more tape and now have everything in my garden wrapped. It looks quite decorative too.

For organic gardening, Copper Slug and Snail Tape is THE BEST product for keeping slugs off your plants without having to kill them. After all, it's not their fault they're slugs. And all the other products for slug prevention are toxic to the environment, other bugs and deadly to animals. You can wrap it around the planter or a collar of some sort around the plant base (a cat food can w/ the bottom cut off is great). You just have to make sure there is not a blade of grass or dirt splashing up on the collar that the slugs can use as a bridge. Even after it is corroded or dull, is still works. I was told that in emits a tiny electric shock to the slugs. Obviously not harmful. I have been using it for years and have never found a dead slug.

I love to garden - flowers, herbs, vegetables - you name it. I have struggled for over twenty years and have spent a great deal of money trying to figure out how to get rid of or at least control the slugs. There are some plants the slugs love and strip them bare. I have to replace some plants twice during one season. It takes the fun out of gardening. Additionally, I now have a medical problem that limits what I can do.

I saw this product in a garden magazine. Even with the reservations of others on Amazon, I decided to try it. I have garden beds on legs now. I put this around every leg the day I put the dirt in the boxes. Yes, it takes a few tries to keep it from sticking together, but you get used to it fast. It took no time to put it on. The slugs have no problem getting up the beams so the flower pots on the decks get a trimming too!

I've waited 2 months to put this product review in because I didn't want to jump the gun. I've also ordered this product two more times to use in other places. I have tried to find it in several of my local garden centers. They don't carry it or it cost more.

In general, I don't write reviews. This product is worth the time and effort. It saved me hours of aggravation. I will use it again next year.

I found this product while looking for copper-colored foil tape for a metal-working project my son was doing in school. He needed something at least 1" wide and what the craft stores carry is mainly only 1/4" wide. In desperation, I Googled "Copper Tape", and up popped this product! I had never heard of copper tape being used to keep slugs out, but as I read the description of the product, I realized that this product would EXACTLY meet our needs...AND it is very reasonably priced (especially compared to what I had been looking at!). I ordered a roll and my son was able to finish his project. The adhesive is quite strong and holds well...there is a little bit of a trick to working with it without tearing the foil, but the learning process is part of the project!

I can't comment on this product's usefulness in keeping slugs and snails away, but it works great as a cheap alternative to "real" conductive copper tape. I used it in a wireless charging modification to my Galaxy SIII and it has no problems carrying the 5.5V needed.

We provide food for a colony of feral cats (yes they have been spayed and neutered). We use this around the edge of the feeding station to keep the slugs away from the food. Works great without hurting the slugs. It does have to be replaced occasionally as too much rain etc rusts(?) the copper and it becomes ineffective.

the product does not work. I put a 3" barrier and the snails cross right over it.
