Second in the Patchwork of Heaven series, Long's easy style creates a richly detailed, charming tale. The sweetly developed romance illustrates how love can grow from friendship. Four stars. -- Romantic Times --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Jacob has little tolerance for abuse and because of that ends up in a bit of a unique situation. Lilly lands there with him and they find them selves engaged before it's over. Although they could break the engagement, they both decide to go through with it. As Lilly and Jacob find there way to the wedding and days following their wedding they must learn how to truly love each other and respect each other.
With all the rush of their engagement a wedding quilt is never made for Lilly, and she doesn't really expect anyone to make one, but the last person anyone expects is the person who gets it started, and has a wedding quilt made for Lilly!!

The Wedding Quilt is honestly the most sensual Amish story I have ever read. . . Nothing is improper about the details given, nor is it more that a Christian could read, but compared to most Amish books, it is very detailed.
I LOVE who made her quilt!! I was very surprised, I had thoughts on who would be the person to make it, but I was wrong, and I loved both who the author picked, and the fact that it was not what I guessed.
I really enjoy reading Amish stories, but because I don't know any Amish people, I can not tell you how accurate this story is. It gives their community a completely different feel than what I have read before.

From what I understand, Lilly's Wedding Quilt is the second in Mrs. Long's "A Patch of Heaven" novels (Sarah's Garden being the first). However, I didn't find this out until AFTER I read Lilly's Wedding Quilt though so I can tell you in all honestly that you do not need to read the first book before reading this one; the stories are separate. I have always loved Amish fiction but having mainly read the genre with Beverly Lewis books, I wanted to branch out into other authors. Let me tell you, if you love Amish Fiction (or any romance for that matter), you'll love Lilly's Wedding Quilt. The story isn't complicated to follow, the characters aren't complex. The underlying thread that ties the story line together is the characters deep and abiding love for God and all his gifts to us. Lilly's Wedding Quilt is an honest and compelling look at a relationship started and guided by God and a lesson for us all to depend on Him when we need him most. AND it's a great love story! I can't wait for book three - I hope it's about Jacob's brother Seth - I'd like to see how he grows into a love that God brings him!!

Lilly has always been in love with Jacob, but never did she think she would end up married to him, yet that is exactly what happened. She wonders if she is merely settling, or is it actually the will of God. She works hard to keep her heart protected, but finds herself falling in love with a husband she never expected to have, but fears what will happen if he never feels the same.

While not all books of Amish fiction work, this one really does. I absolutely loved this story, and while the setting and characters are clearly Amish, the heart of the story is romance, and it is so universal that all readers can relate.

I really liked the characters of Lilly and Jacob, and thought it was wonderful watching their story unfold. It felt like a privilege to be a part of their world and their story. I can clearly see that there is a large cast of characters within this world, and I love getting glimpses of their stories, and wondering about where these stories might lead.

This is the second novel in the Patch of Heaven series, yet this book is a wonderful stand alone book. While it helps to have read the first book in the series, it is not necessary for the full enjoyment of this story.

I have become addicted to Amish romances and this book has joined my list of keepers.. Jacob is "heartbroken", the woman he has always planned to marry is marrying another man. Lilly finds Jacob accidentally on Sarah's wedding day. (I guess she is the heroine of another book?-Sarah's Garden (A Patch of Heaven Novel).. I didnt read that one so this book works fine as a stand-alone) Things happen and things are said or implied that shouldnt be so Jacob fibs to the community and says he and Lilly are engaged. I felt sorry for Lilly so much in the book when Jacob would do something that hurt her, I know it wasnt purposely done but sometimes indifference hurts more. Not that Jacob was exactly indifferent to Lilly, he was just dense. I liked both Lilly and Jacob and liked them together but I didnt really feel that I knew them. Their personalities werent really delved into, more likely skimmed- I felt Jacob's personality was more developed than Lilly's. So that took away from the book a little.. The author did a really good job making interesting characters who might be in future books (Im going to be watching so I can read more about Seth, Grace Weiler and Abel) Also Id like to read more about Lilly and Jacob. I went through the book knowing Jacob was warming towards Lilly and wanted to be worthy of her but I dont think I realized when he fell in love with her so I was questioning that but when he explained himself at the end of the book I remembered.. I loved the fact that Jacob went outside his comfort zone for Lilly and thought it was very cute..
I really liked this book, there was just some things left in the air.. The above mentioned and Jacob's secret wasnt talked about much.. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.. ( I rated this 3 stars but its more like 3.5)
