Book Description

Lily James is a Soccer Sister. With the Brookville Bombers, her super competitive - and super skilled - soccer team, 13-year-old Lily plays hard and wins big. She and her teammates, including best friend Vee Merino, have hit the top of the league by running fast, passing straight, and following the Soccer Sisters Code, a list of ten unbreakable rules that keep the game clean and the victories sweet.

But when Colby Wrangle joins the Bombers, everything changes. Colby's got crazy soccer skills, dyed hair, fake tattoos, and tons of attitude. She's the coolest thing Lily's ever seen - and on the field, she'll do anything to win. Off it, she'll do anything to have fun. Soon Lily is sneaking out, lying - and trying to remember what made soccer so beautiful to begin with. With a huge tournament in Montreal looming, she's got tough choices ahead. They'll affect her family, her friends, the game she loves...and the future of the Soccer Sisters Code.

Lily Out of Bounds includes a special message from soccer icon Brandi Chastain, the official spokesperson of the Soccer Sisters Series.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The Soccer Sisters series isn't just about soccer. It's about friendships, family, and the awesome thrill that comes from winning. It's also fun, which is the best reason in the world to read it." -- Carl Hiaasen

5.0 out of 5 stars My Kid Devoured This July 24, 2012
Format:Paperback
Any kid who has a mild interest in soccer (or any sport for that matter) will love this book. I gave it to my 10 yo when we went on a road trip and I didn't hear from her until we got to our destination. She just ate it up. As a mom of two daughters I'm always looking for books about strong girls and sports and all the good things that can trickle down from being part of a team. This one hit the mark on all those levls. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soccer Sisters: Lily Out of Bounds July 25, 2012
A Kid's Review
Format:Paperback
While I play lacrosse more than soccer, I really enjoyed reading about the Soccer Sisters' detailed action on the field. I really liked the way this book makes any athlete, of any team sport connect to the lessons learned by Lily-especially on the soccer field! This book discusses how to stand up and think for yourself, especially dealing with pier pressure. I also really enjoyed reading about the power of friendship both on and off the field.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome book for young teens September 19, 2012
By ble
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Loved this book - I have a niece that is in her early teens and I bought it for her birthday. Perfect timing given the 2012 Olympics and the awesome US Soccer team! My niece is also really into soccer so I wanted to encourage that interest - something beyond boys and body image and looks, all the pressures that young teen girls face these days. Anyway, I picked it up before I sent it to her and got most of the way through. The story really flows, the characters are realistic and interesting. I'm so pleased that there is such high-quality literature out there for girls this age! Whoever published this book is doing a real service - keep it up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Daughter devoured it... August 1, 2012
By Lili
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this book for my 11-year-old daughter on a Wednesday, and despite being in camp from 9am-3pm daily, she devoured it in two sittings and is already asking for the next installment. In her own words, she said "I love all of the adventures that Lily takes, through soccer and in her life. This really makes it an exciting book."
