Book Description

Lily is the story of a young girl, adopted from China as a baby. The book tells about Lily's adoption experience and that of her new family, who travel to China all the way from America to adopt her. Lily not only gets a family of her very own, but inherits a group of very special friends in the process. These friends are referred to as her China sisters; other babies adopted at the same time as Lily, from the same orphanage. Lily's red thread is linked to many people, not just her new family... You can follow Lily's adventures in a special series of books. Lily's adventures are a mix of her life in American with it's own special traditions and heritage.... and that of her birth land, China. Lily is written for children approximately ages 7-11.

5.0 out of 5 stars We Love Lily, March 5, 2010
This review is from: Lily (Paperback)
Lily is a special book. As the mother of a daughter adopted from China, I look for books that my little one can relate too. Lily is written in a voice similar to how my daughter speaks so she understands it. It tells the story of the adoption trip and entrance into a new family in a matter-of-fact manner, yet is comfortable and fun to read. We have other adoption books that deal with the difficulties of abandonment and sometimes sugar coat the pain of these things. "Lily" is not about that, so it is a welcome reprieve from the difficult aspects of adoption. It is simply a child's adoption story that feels like she is sharing it with her friends. My daughter likes this book because she can share it with her friends and help them understand her adoption.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Written and Illustrated account of Chinese adoption...., March 25, 2009
This review is from: Lily (Paperback)
I was blown away by this moving story of a family adopting a baby girl from China. The illustrations are rich and the colors are wonderfully vibrant.

The story is based on the true events of the "Adoption Trip" the family made to pick Lily up and bring her home.

Written through the perspective of Lily herself, we see how she reminisces based on stories she has been told about the trip, photos of those days, as well as her own memories growing up.

The importance of knowing where one comes from and maintaining your adoptive child's culture, such as Lily's "China Sister's" remains strong throughout the story.

It is one of the best childrens books I have purchased in a long time and my own little girl loves the story and pictures as much as I do.
How great is that!
