The beautiful illustrations in this children's book are sure to captivate young readers, and parents too!. Based on a true life experience, the story will help children learn respect for the environment. For ages 3 and up. Pre-readers will love the pictures, and new readers will also enjoy reading this bedtime story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story and fantastic illustrations. September 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
As a former preschool teacher I always looked for picture books that held my students attention. I found that both the story and the illustration are important to making a book a child will want to read over and over again. Author, John Murnieks has hit the nail on the head with Lily and the Tarantula. Aside from a tightly told story about a spider and this charming girl, Dori Murniek's illustrations were fantastic. With work like this more parents (and teachers) will be searching the epublishers for books. Not only is this book a good read for preschool children, beginner readers will love to read it too.

My six year old son read this book to me. We were both pleased by the entertaining story and the fantastic illustrations. He has since gone back to re-read it at least two more times.

I hate it when people react to spiders and insects by squishing them! That's why I love "Lily and the Tarantula" - because Lily does NOT squish the spider she encounters, even though she is initially afraid. Catching and releasing a tarantula might be adventure enough for some, but not for Lily. The story's imaginative dream sequence and lovely illustrations offer readers an even bigger flight of fancy, which concludes with a happy ending and lessons of respect and kindness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for both my kids! January 5, 2013
By Roman
Format:Paperback
Just got this book the other day and my daughter loves it (she's even started taking it to bed with her)! The illustrations are beautiful and the book sends a very positive message. We go through a lot of books at the house and it's nice to get away from the main stream, media driven, advertisement laden usual.

I enjoyed reading this book with my children, and I liked how the illustrations enhanced the story. This is a great way to help children feel more at ease with nature and insects, plus promoting acts of kindness to all living things. I think this book would be a worthy addition to any young child's or classroom's bookshelf!

My 5 year old son loves spiders so the story was very appealing to him. His favorite part was when the spider turned big. Cute free story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kindness December 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a great book to use in the schools to talk about kindness. As soon as kids see a bee the first thing they want to do is swat it and kill it. I don't live in a place where tarantulas are common, but it could be used with the same concept in mind.

Makes no impact as  an ebook. Illustrations are weak.  It‘s going  up to the cloud.  Never to return.  Do  not purchase even if it‘s free.
